Premium, No-Fail Features Plus 1 Additional Round

Built to the very highest standards for the no-fail performance competitive and self-defense shooters demand. Feed lips are roll-formed and polished, not die cut, for added strength, and Chip’s proprietary follower design provides flawless feeding with semi-wadcutters and hollow points. Powerful spring of proprietary, heat-treated Rocket Wire further ensures reliable feeding, even when left fully loaded and seated in a pistol for extended periods. Removable plastic base pad with full, front-to-back engagement, is built to withstand continual use, and numbered witness holes on both sides of the body provide a fast, visible round count. Available in 8-round capacity with slightly extended base pad that adds about ¼" to magazine length.

Doesn't drop free (10.01.2012)

I bought two of these. With my STI Spartan one will drop free (sometimes needs a bit of persuasion), the other sticks for about the first inch. Two STI mags drop free every time.

The difference appears to be the width, with the STI mags being 1.358" and the Power Mags being 1.375 and 1.370 (the 1.370 is the one that will drop).

Let's see what CMC tech support have to say.

I just received my magazines,bought 10, installed pads, 9 of the ten worked perfectly, 1 required a slight bit of file work, it now works perfectly, I have determined that my mag well needs to be beviled. I love the all metal mag and follower vs. the synthetic followers that I have used in the past. I look forward to using these.

Does not activate slide lock (13.02.2013)

Locks in place and no failure to feed issues. but does not lock the slide open on the last round. I shoot a Remington R1S.

The Factory Magazines do lock open on last round.

Quality Product (06.06.2016)

I've been using two of these for the past four years out of an S&W 1911 E Series. The finish wore off fairly quick in a couple spots but the slide has always locked back and I've never experienced a failure to feed.

This is one of the few 8-round magazines on the market that I can recommend. Almost all magazines will work when new, but most will fail in short order due to spread feed lips, weak springs, worn follower/slide stop engagement, bulged bodies, broken base pads, or a combination of the above.

This magazine has a strong magazine tube that resists bulging and feed lip spread. The spring is strong and even helps stabilize the follower. This magazine works out of the bag and continues to work even after many cycles or if left loaded.

Smooth functioning (26.02.2010)

I have a number of these magazines. With a Colt, Springfield, and a custom 1911 they work flawlessly. They are my carry magazines.

OK but new Powmag + is better (09.04.2010)

Had some problem with them to start with. I added the new follower for the Power Mag +, never had a problem since.

99% of my shooting consists of 200 grain lead semi-wadcutters, and this magazine will feed them into my Kimber Stainless Target II without any trouble.

Excellent magazine for shorter 1911 (18.08.2010)

If you are running any 1911 with these you will be satisfied. Due to the strong springs it may take a couple loadings for the springs to "set" but after that you will have a good working magazine. These give the round that extra quick lift to feed the rounds in shorter 3 and 4 inch 1911's.

Money well spent (10.12.2010)

I use this magazine in a Kimber Stainless Target II. It has functioned flawlessly no matter how many rounds are in the mag, and it does not allow the follower to tilt.

Although my shooting consists of target/bullseye shooting, I would be comfortable using this magazine in a gun used for self defense.

The Truth Only Not what you would expect (01.08.2011)

Recently purchased these mags from Brownells. Very disappointed. The overall construction of the magazine is well executed except for one problem. When I got my magazines they would not activate the slide stop on a few of my 1911 pistols.Also if you slightly push foreward on the follower with your finger the follower along with the spring will fly out the top of the magazine. I would not bet my life on these magazines.I hope CMC takes a serious look at there followers as they are less than reliable.

I'M A 1911 FANATIC! THESE MAGS WORK IN ALL MY 1911'S. SOME OF MY MORE EXPENSIVE WILSON MAGS ARE VERY PICKY WORKING WELL IN SOME GUNS BUT NOT OTHERS. +1 ON THE 200GR BULLETS. I LOAD MINE A LITTLE LONG AND THEY STILL FIT IN THE MAG. NOT SO WITH MY WILSON MAGS. PLUS YOU CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE!

I have some of these that I've had for 15 years now. They have remained fully loaded since purchase, with the exception of range time use. They continue to work as desired and I've never had an issue with function or fit! I have a Kimber procarry and a Tarus 1911 and use these in both guns.
