Worth the money(22.10.2016)
I wanted to replace the stock on my 870. To remove the stock bolt I tried screwdrivers, WD40, penetrating oil all to no avail. Bought this bit and the stock bolt came loose in moments. Still required significant effort, but it came loose. just to be sure the bolt bit was the right tool, I tried the screwdriver again before using the bolt bit and the bolt wouldn't budge. Buying this bit actually was a net cost savings to me because the only other option was to cut the stock off and even then there is no guarantee that the remainder of the bolt would have been easy to remove. Buy this bit and simplify your life.
Built tough great tool(30.09.2009)
Had a rusted up Remington 1100 that had broken two other wrenches of less quality, was running through all my normal methods of removing the rusted nut when I spotted this wrench in the catalog so I ordered it up, [...] took it out of the box, put it on a breaker bar and "POP" off came the nut! Great tool!
A "No Brainer" Purchase(02.12.2009)
I was wrestling with various screwdrivers and other Heath Robinson-esque devices to try to get my stuck 11-87 bolt off with zero success. I eventually caved and bought this. The stock was off within 5 seconds of unwrapping the parcel from Brownells. Just get it.
Just Buy It(30.04.2010)
So Here's the story: I have a 1980 model 1100 with a weak and noisy action spring. Additionally the butt stock was loose, could be just that or broken. Sought advise as to the best way to remove the nut and was told about the many different tools to get the job done. Ranging from a wide blade screwdriver to a wood boring bit.
Two things you must have to remove the stock safely and properly: 1. The ability to apply the proper amount of torque, both tightening and loosening. 2. The ability to keep the tool from slipping out of the slot stripping the nut and/or breaking the stock. This tool does both; in fact it is the only tool that does both.
Turns out the stock was just loose and the spring was kinked and worn out. The weekend after fixing my gun, a club buddy asked if I bought this bit. He wanted to borrow it because he had used a screwdriver on his, slipped and took a huge chunk out of the inside of his stock.
" Fantastic piece of equipment "(02.07.2012)
I used this tool to remove an old stubborn disfigured stock nut from my 1100. Proved to be fast, safe and left my stock damage free, I highly suggest this tool as the price for the outcome is " priceless "!
Excellent tool(07.05.2013)
If you own or work on Remington 1100's you must have this tool. Don't risk punching a hole through the stock for the small price of this excellent product. You will never get the bolt tight enough with a screwdriver and the stock will continue to come loose, usually in the middle of a hunting trip or a day shooting clays. Just buy it, it is worth every penny.
Socket Really Works(20.12.2013)
Have been trying all things I have read online to remove bolt. Screw Driver, Lug Wrench PB Blaster. Tried all with no success. Ordered the bit and tried it today. Had a rusted bolt probably from 30 years ago. Put the bit on and had the bolt off in a minute flat. No fuss no problems. If you can turn it with a big screw driver you don't need this. If you can't I would buy this bit. It is cheaper than a gun smith and you have it from now on. Is a bit pricy but have you checked other tool prices lately. This was for a 70's model 1100 magnum that has been babtized numerous times especially on New Years for the past two years in a row.
Works like a charm!(20.08.2015)
I recently purchased this bit to change the buttstock on my 11-87 LC High Gloss. Ordering was a breeze, customer service was very helpful, and the bit arrived 4 business days after I placed the order. Once the bit arrived, it functioned exactly as expected. I was able to remove the old stock and install the new one with no problems at all. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to remove the buttstock on a Remington 11-87, and based on this experience, I won't hesitate to order from Brownell's in the future.
Right tool for the job(09.12.2015)
Made short work of removing the butt retaining bolt without fear of damaging my expensive Monte Carlo buttstock. The right tool for job which could save you a lot of money in the long run. Get it and throw it in your maintance kit. You'll need it again if your a regular 1100 shooter.
