One of the better 10/22 mags(18.06.2009)
This is a solid 10/22 mags in a world filled with awful 10/22 mags. Solid construction, nice fit and finish, seats in the gun nice and tight with little play and feeds fantastically.
Doesn't have a spring to get tangled up, instead uses a coiled strip of metal wound around a cylinder to provide constant feeding force. A seriously good mag, never had a problem with it. The only drawback is that I can only load 24 rounds into my mag, not the advertised 25.
Good design, better than hot lips(02.09.2010)
I prefer the Steel Lips to the plastic Hot Lips design. Though the Hot Lips are good mags, they have a tendency to jam and cause feeding problems. I find this is far less frequent with the Steel Lips.
Lightweight, rigid and can be connected with other mags without tools or extras.
Very Satisfied!(12.09.2011)
Have had ZERO issues with this mag in my 10/22.
Looks great; works great!
Not what they used to be ?(19.08.2012)
These used to be the best aftermarket 10-22 mags you could buy, the only ones that would work flawlessly with any brand of .22 Long Rifle ammo (not shot shells). The last two butler creek mags I bought will not feed any brand without jamming. First the top of each mag had to be filed down so the bolt would not hit it causing a jam. I did not get any filings down inside the mags. Then they would only jam for the first 4 or 5 rounds, if I loaded only 20 rounds they would function properly. The angle of the cartridge in these mags is not the same as in the Ruger factory mags. They also fit really sloppy in the mag well. The quality control at butler creek is not what it used to be.
Excellent Product(27.09.2012)
I've fired about 20 full magazines and without one single jam. Great product!!
I made a mistake about these mags(12.10.2012)
I made a mistake about these mags in a previous review, I only gave them a one star rating because of the constant jamming. It turns out it wasn't the mags fault, it was the Butler Creek mag loader. The mag loader was bending the cartridges causing them to jam. When I load the Butler Creek mags by hand they shoot just fine with no jamming.
Reliable feeding magazine(08.01.2013)
I use my 10/22 at the range heavily and this magazine has always been the most reliable. Very few jams and feeds rapidly
Jams frequently(10.06.2013)
Yesterday at the range my 10/22 jammed 3 times in 37 rounds using Butler Creek steel lips mags, twice in the first mag and once half way through the second. At that point I switched to Ruger factory BX-25 and BX-10 mags, and using the same ammo, I fired 210 rounds without a hiccup.
Poor performance(05.08.2013)
I've tried multiple brands of ammo. With each, used these mags and Ruger brand mag as a test. While the Ruger performed flawlessly with each brand the Butler creek at best would fire 3 rounds before FTEs and FTFs.
Bad QA(25.01.2018)
Bought two, one worked. After inspection I found that the dimensions where off on the one failing so feeding was at a 50% miss rate.
