can't beat it for the price!(11.05.2010)
slight fitting and this fit perfectly in my SA 1911! bow is polished making the pull smoother. great if you have small hands like me!
No such thing as 'standard' w/1911s!(10.04.2012)
Although the quality and craftsmanship of this trigger is stellar, keep in mind that there is no such thing as "standard" when it comes to 1911 parts. In particular, this trigger does not function correctly in a Para-Ordnance single-stack frame. After hours of fitting/prepping this trigger, I reassembled the pistol only to discover that the pistol didn't function properly. Further inspection with the help of a calipers revealed that the bow is roughly .065" longer than the original part. So unless you're willing to refit all your other parts to this trigger, or you have the ability to swap the bows, look elsewhere if you own a Para. As for everyone else, as I already stated the quality of this part is top-notch, and it looked pretty darn good in the assembled pistol before my bubble burst. This trigger is, IMO, an excellent value, too. My wife, who is the person for whom I was installing this trigger, would have really liked it. My only advice is to measure and compare everything before taking that first file stroke, in the event you need to return the part for a refund.
Shoe not Oversized According to my Print(18.02.2014)
This trigger shoe is not oversized, the print for a 1911 calls for a trigger shoe height of 0.930" -0.010. This trigger shoe measures 0.922" which is the low side of specification. Ed did not even dispute the blue print specifications.
I also have a blue print that shows the trigger track for a 1911 is 0.925" ± 0.010 which means the track can be as tall as 0.935".
"15â16" (23.8mm) high" is what is advertised on Brownell's website which is 0.9375". This would be perfect and oversized.
I contacted Ed Brown and this is what I was told in an email
"Ours are .922. The print you sent shows .930 less .010 as the spec, that means between .920 and .930."
"15â16" (23.8mm) high" is what is advertised on Brownells website which is 0.9375". This would be perfect and oversized.
This is on the website description from Ed Brown
Ed Brown Trigger The classic three hole design long trigger made from strong yet lightweight aluminum, with heat-treated steel bow. Manufactured in-house by Ed Brown. Finely serrated pull surface for better feel and control. Includes stainless steel adjustable overtravel set screw. Slightly oversize in height for precise hand fitting to your frame.
Short trigger(14.11.2016)
Bought it for myself Easy install . Adjusted with a few strokes of a file. Easy to adjust over travel.
If fits, it works, it's great!(19.10.2011)
I installed this trigger on a Remington R1 1911. The original trigger was a short trigger and didn't have an overtravel stop screw. The Ed Brown trigger fit perfectly, eliminated much of the initial freeplay and allowed me to adjust the overtravel. All in all, a perfect trigger. I couldn't be happier.
As advertised and a great rproduct(30.05.2013)
This is the perfect example of a match grade part. I fitted this to a MIL Spec Springfield 1911. A little filing was needed on the top and it fit perfect.
The other reviews complaining about have to fit this part should not be replacing parts on their guns. Most match grade parts require some fitting and it states that in the description. If you don;t want to fit a match grade part, keep your firearm the way it is.
Top grade parts as usual from Ed Brown. Total time to install, including fitting - 10 minutes.
looks and works good, took to much work(31.07.2010)
First off, i am an army trained armorer who has been shooting and building 1911 for 15 years...this went in a new 80s series colt 1911, blued that was pretty much stock...
The trigger looked great and seemed well built, but after closer inspection the arms of the trigger yolk were slightly canted so the trigger was not vertical and rubbed horribly...i spend probably a total of 12 hours fighting with and fitting this trigger and was very disappointed that it came so malformed from the factory...this is my first ed brown trigger and am used to wilsons so i guess i was expecting too much and tried to save a couple of bucks...the time spent in fitting was not worth the savings...do not buy unless you have extensive experience fitting triggers, a good file, stones, polishing compound and lots of patience...bottom line, after hours of fitting and cursing i got it in and it works great, but not worth the time and trouble when wilson works so much better...go with the wilson unless you just want the building experience
Great product!(31.01.2011)
I expected problems because I'm rebuilding a AMT Hardballer. The original trigger is steel and I had a great deal of trigger bounce at the pull weight I was trying to achieve. This trigger worked exceptionally well. Sure, some fitting is required, but the result was worth the trouble. I was so impressed, I'm buying a second for an AMT 1911 Government.
Very Pleased(29.03.2011)
I had to spend about half an hour filing and polishing to fit this into my milspec Springfield 1911, but once i got it just right, it works beautifully. I would highly recommend this product!
Great Trigger(29.04.2011)
Very pleased with this trigger, gives crisp, smooth pulls every time. Required some filing to fit, nothing more than expected.
Great deal on a great trigger(07.06.2011)
I am not a certified armorer, just mechanioally inclined. I had this baby in and functioning in 50 minutes. Yes, it does require filing, sanding, and polishing, but that's how the 1911 trigger replacement goes. I.B.
better than good(03.12.2011)
very good quality trigger, its over sized like advertised, makes for a perfect custom fit for any looking to be build a high quality and accurate gun
Very nice(11.01.2012)
Very nice trigger. Dont hesitate to buy this one. Drop in fit for my RIA M1911A1.
Excellent trigger, if it needs fitting(03.06.2013)
I purchased this trigger first for my SAM Elite 1911. It required top and bottom filing to get it fitted in the frame, but once fitted, it works perfect. I bought another one for a RIA Compact 1911A1, and it's too small for slop free fitment. It drops in the RIA and is lighter than stock, but expect about the same play in the trigger as stock. These also don't have forward takeup tabs, so if you don't require that and don't mind some take up in your trigger, you'll be fine.
Great trigger(20.02.2014)
Put this in my Springfield GI 45. It did require I minor bit of filing, but definitely fine for DIY. Looks great. Feels smooth. Less play than stock. Great price.
Less than impressed(18.07.2016)
I've been a toolmaker for over 30 years and feel this Ed Brown component doesn't show craftmanship in the least. I don't mind fitting something a bit but this was just cheaply made.
I took it out of the package and installed it and it was rubbing really bad. I took it out and notice the trigger was bent to one side of the bow and the bow itself was out of shape. The aluminum trigger had deep tool marks on it so I decided to polish it and had to start with a file it was so bad. One side was bulged out where the over travel screw was tapped. All edges were sharp so I had to stone them too. It looked like these were machined and thrown into a tumbler for deburring.
After install I went to adjust for over travel and the screw was super loose with no nylon lock or Locktite. Never would have stayed tight while shooting.
I bought this for a less expensive project gun that I bought to get more familiar with the 1911 platform before I do my own full build. I'm glad I did because that gun won't have any EB parts on it.
Very ltttle work required(04.12.2017)
Put this in a 1911 builders frame.Just a little filing on the top with a file,Seems to need very little on the front top especially. break the corners to a little chamfer, stone and Bob is your uncle. Wish it came with the little hex wrench.
