Works on Stoll Kodiak 11.12.2017
I had one of these installed on a Stolle Kodiak action by Bruce Thom of BAT machine, way back when he was just a wee tool and die maker at Key tropic corp. It is functioning perfectly to this day, even though I gave the rifle to my buddy's son for his graduation present. This rifle has been wet, dirty, cold, etc as it is used to kill varmints. Excellent product, if you have a top notch gunsmith to install it.

Safety works very well - HOWEVER, be very careful when disassembling the bolt for cleaning. If you use one of the firing pin retraction tools to pull back the pin, the safety assembly can turn a slight amount clockwise. This will immediately lock the safety assembly to the bolt. Efforts to unlock the safety assembly from the bolt will destroy the safety. Bottom line - the only safe way to disassemble the safety from the bolt body is to use the middle position and unscrew the unit.

This is an excellent, one of a kind product. It gives Remington 700 owners a true 3 position safety that locks the firing pin and not just the sear. And it also gives you the ability to pull the firing pin and shroud assembly in the field for cleaning or whatever with no tools. All my Remingtons have this mod. True- it is a pain to fit, and you are likely to need a couple spare cocking pieces to screw up on before you get the hang of fitting it. Tip- when you cut the right hand side of the cocking piece to fit the safety lever, cut the contact surface at a 45 degree angle. Tip 2- when drilling the hole for the bolt locking pin, mark the location with a dab of inletting black on the face of the pin. When you get it right, this is a very handy addition to any Rem 700.

I have installed half a dozen of these on Remington 700's and Mauser 98's. It is only a job for the experienced machinist. Set up, equipment, tooling and technique are critical. This is not a drop in. Figure 3 hours machine/fitting work. When done correctly, the safety does the job - it disconnects the firing pin from the trigger sear, and it blocks the firing pin from forward movement - like a Model 70 safety. Gentry is a good outfit to work with - full support, nice people.

I spent many days trying to get this product to work. I also "lost my shirt" with the labor charged to the customer for fitting this part. The safety lever retainer is a very small socket head screw and the threads of this screw will wear with minimal usage of engaging and disengaging the safety, and then the safety becomes very difficult to engage.
