What a difference!(29.11.2011)
I had this sight put on my .357 magnum 1894 Marlin and was amazed at the difference it made. It uses the same ladder adjustment of the original sight for distance which gives you familiarity of use, but instead of having to bury the front sight into the tiny notch of the rear, you get this nice inner ring to line up with. The front sight doesn't fill in the inner ring, but lining up the post of the front sight with the post if the inner ring lines up everything beautifully giving you a great view to set the front sight right on the bullseye of your target. This sight also let me see how bad I was pulling the gun when shooting and helped me to quickly fix that problem.
I was also impressed with the quality of the sight itself. It's a little thicker than your standard ladder sight and will hold up well in the woods. It's not as thick and robust as an XS sight, but it's also nowhere near as expensive.
If you have bad eyes or want a good sight for the woods, range, or homedefense without paying an arm and a leg, get this sight.
It's worth every penny!
I'm getting another one to put on my Henry .22lr. They are that good.
Great on Winchester 1300 slug barrel(29.12.2011)
Didn't like the stock sights on my Winchester 1300 slug barrel. This ghost type rear sight was the ticket for me. Installation was much easier than I expected. Just put a little oil in the dovetail grove and it tapped right in. Had to remove the elevation adjustment completely to get it on the bullseye at 50 yards but will just buy a taller front sight since I wanted to get a fiber optic up there anyway. All set for next deer season!
Rossi Ranch Hand(14.06.2012)
I just replaced the stock sight on my Rossi Ranch Hand with one of these, perfect fit and talk about a differance in sight picture from the old sight. You can shoot with both eyse open and when you bring up the gun that brass front bead lines right up. Just placed an order for 2 more. One for my Rossi Lever Carbine and one for my Taurus Thunderbolt. But it will have to be fitted to it. It has a .20 smaller dovetail. I would recommend changing the front sight to either brass or a white bead.
A very well made sight.(20.06.2012)
I installed this sight on my model 39M and it looks as though Marbles had the Marlin in mind.
Had to use the triangle file for about five min.to get the dovetail correct,no big deal.
The quality of this piece is top notch, deep bluing matched up perfect, the shape of the sight and elevator are identical to Marlin only longer, and with the octogon barrel and brass bead front post it adds up to a sweet set up.
I bought the sight planning to put it on a Taurus 62 and changed my mind once I looked at how nicely it fit on the flat top of the octogon barrel compaired to the round barrel of the 62.
A nice suprise and would buy again.
Great sight you will love it(24.06.2012)
seen one at a sass shoot and like the looks of it, so I ordered one for my 38 and love it; easy to get on target - faster. Have ordered another one for my 45 also.
Ideal(29.08.2012)
Great on my Win94 Trapper. Wanted a ghost ring sight, but there are limited options for the 94 without gunsmithing. Inexpensive and very effective. Great for shooting moving targets. Maintains the asthetics and compact hanlding of the gun without having to add a red dot sight. Have given several of these to friens, who are also very pleased.
Quality(23.09.2013)
I used this product on a Rossi pump 22. If you need a sight for a project and the existing dove tail is bigger than 3/8 inch, I found if you braze this dovetail slightly and take your time shaping it , it works great. These are quality products. Look great and perform perfectly. You won't be disappointed.
Misalignment(17.10.2013)
The sight is robust enough, and affords quick sight picture acquisition, but I would prefer a smaller bulls eye - it is not as tight as a Patridge-type sight. I also would prefer more, smaller steps on the elevator for finer adjustment. As expected, the forward edge of the dovetail did involve a little fitting. My problem is that when installed and aligned with a laser boresight, I note that my dovetail has to be driven very far to the left - the cantilever of my sight is not perpendicular to the un-fitted rear side of the dovetail. Manufacturing defect.
Bullseye sights are great(09.04.2016)
I keep a supply of these on hand, long and short, with a supply of XS post front sights. They make a world of difference, basically a more precise ghost ring type of set up without a lot of expense or work. Win. 94 30-30, Marlin 336 30-30, Marlin Camp carbine .45, and Marlin model 60 all have this rear sight. Model 60 still has its front sight, but the others wear the XS post. Great for low light, snap shooting, and moving targets.
Winchester 67a(14.10.2017)
I bought this sight for a Winchester Model 67a (.22LR/shorts, etc.) My rifle is factory stock, with a barrel length of about 27". To make the sight fit, I simply sanded the bottom of the sight a bit with 220 grit sand paper, applied some oil, and tapped it in from right to left (as if the stock was against your shoulder.) It went on simple enough. Getting the right front sight took several attempts. I have a few spare front sights, with the tallest being .350. These were all too short, and my rifle was shooting several inches high at 25 yards. I attempted to use a sight that was .530, and that did not work out well. I was able to get sighted in, but I had to max-out the elevation on the rear sight. The front sight I settled on was a Marbles with an overall height of .045. Sighting in with the .045 front sight at 25 yards, the rear sight elevator is one click up from the lowest setting. There is more enough elevation adjustment remaining (for my needs). Perhaps I could have selected a front sight slightly shorter, but not much! I have the factory Winchester sights oiled up, and properly marked and stored, such that they can be passed on with the rifle (when I do). Best of luck to all.
Great replacement for Henry Golden Boy(18.02.2018)
Like many "middle aged" shooters, I found that the semi-buckhorn rear sight that comes on the Henry Golden Boy is next to impossible to use wearing bifocals, too small of a notch.
After looking at peep sight options, I decided to give the Marple's Bullseye sight a try. I also looked at a Skinner Peep Sight and choose the Marple's because it had more of a traditional look... plus, if it didn't work out, I'd be out less money. Installation required a minor bit of filing on the bottom of the dovetail to fit it to the Henry dovetail slot. I'm pleased with the results, easy to get on target and have decent sight picture. With the larger aperture size, it's not for precision target shooting, but it is totally adequate for hunting and plinking.
so much better than stock sights(30.08.2018)
this rear sight makes it easier to see your front sight, especially in lower light conditions. the ring style also helps me to shoot better groups. it did take a slight amount of polishing to get it to go into the dovetail slot on my mod 94, basically amounted to sanding the bluing off the bottom of the sight, applying a couple drops of oil and tapping it into place. be sure to not sand off too much. this sight feels more solid than the factory sight. i would highly recommend this sight, especially for those of us who's eyes aren't quite what they were in our 20's.
