Excellent product 05.11.2011
I use these bushings for both bullseye and game guns. In my opinion, its the best bushing you can buy. A lathe makes short work in the fitting department, and you don't have to use your barrel as a slide hammer.
VERY Oversized, tricky to fit. 01.07.2010
I purchased this bushing along with a Clark Custom 6" .45 ACP non-ramped barrel, to fit to a Caspian XR slide. I have used Clark barrels before with much success, so figured I'd give their bushing a shot.
The ID of the bushing where the barrel slides through has a LOT of material. As the description says, it is better for undersized/G.I. barrels, not a full-sized match barrel. It took a good while with an adjustable hand reamer to remove enough material to fit it to the barrel properly to a light drag fit.
Unlike most other bushings which are completely round on the skirt, this has 3 flanges that contact the ID of the slide where the barrel rides. I figured this would be easy enough, using the Brownells bushing mandrel to turn it down on a lathe. I cut the flanges until it would slide into the opening, yet I was still getting drag marks on the leading flange as I tried to twist the bushing into place with a bushing wrench.
Turns out the flanges are also oversized for the tunnel in which the lug rides, and on the forward edge of the lug as well as the outer surface of the bushing that contacts the slide. In all there are about 8 points of contact (including the ID where the barrel rides) to fit on this bushing. Very time consuming.
I have fit other manufacturers' oversized bushings, which tool much longer and served to build very accurate pistols. I'd stay away from this one unless you've got tons of experience or lots of spare time on your hands.
