Hammer has low-mass oval cut spur that reduces lock time. Narrowed sides improve function by reducing drag. good two stage hammer(12.05.2010)
Great quality but unlike the picture represents the hammer is stainless on the left and right side. Fit my springfield A1 with no mods.
Great Value(31.07.2010)
I have one of these in my 1911 and recently installed one into a customer's Colt Goverment Model. It is a durable piece and will require the normal amount of fitting to result in a nice trigger on this pistol.
It's shiny on the sides(24.08.2010)
It's shiny (but not polished) on the sides, it's impossible to tell with the Brownell's picture. I polished mine up real nice and it looks super.
Great Hammer(29.04.2011)
Was very pleased with this hammer straight out of the box; required no filing whatsoever. It will NOT however, work with a standard A1 grip saftey, which I didn't know until installation; basically ended up having to buy a beavertail safety, which I wanted anyways.
good hammer for wc beaver tail(13.07.2011)
this hammer dropped with in as i hoped on my RIA 1911 government. fit was pretty good, was a little sloppy but no more then the stock gi hammer. put the hammer and beaver tail in, and took about 30 minutes. the only thing that irritated me was the sides are shiny and i wasnt expecting that, or i would have ordered the trigger too so it would have "matched". also it does scrap the beaver tail a slight bit when fully cocked. therefore i gave it a 4 star. all in all it is a good product and worked great. i will be ordering another for my RIA 1911 officer.
Great hammer(01.02.2012)
good feel, good fit & finish
Great hammer(02.06.2012)
Looks and works great. Neither the sear nor hammer required fitting - dropped into two S/A Mil Specs. Trigger pull noticeably much lighter with no stoning.
Just an FYI... the polished sides are not "stainless" they are just polished in the white. Put some birchwood casey super blue on the sides and call it a day.
value inded(06.07.2012)
purchased this with the value line sear and beavertail. theses three pieces kinda go hand in hand and once installed, work like a dream. required absolutely no fitting for my springfield 1911 A-1 GI.dropped right in, and, i notice the trigger pull and release is a bit lighter and smoother. if youre changing your standard grip safety for a beavertail safety, then you will def need the hammer to avoid hitting the beavertail. gives a standard style 1911 a more modern look too
WC 1911 Hammer(27.08.2012)
I got this for my Taurus PT1911 because I didn't like the safety lock in the Taurus hammer. I was surprised at the quality of the piece because of the price. The hooks came cut at the right angle (no pun intended, lol.) and fit&finish was excellent. Would buy this again.
Easy install(29.08.2012)
I'm not a 1911 pistol smith, but I managed to put this in without any problems. Fit my Colt M1991A1 Series 80 pistol perfect. I even think the trigger is smoother and lighter than the factory hammer I replaced. I used this in conjunction with the Wilson Combat Drop In Beavertail Safety and I'm truly happy with both.
Great hammer, works wonderful!(13.09.2012)
Great piece of technology, for the price, it can't be beat. I punch a lot of paper, and wanted something that looks good as well as function. Have carried it for backup in the car when working the road, now will carry it for protection. Thanks, Brownell's
I would buy this product again and again(13.09.2012)
Very nice hammer. To bad Wilson doesn't offer a complete hammer assy alread staked for just a little more coin for the hobbiest type guy
Value and Quality(23.09.2012)
Added this when I overhauled my very first 1911. Spent a little time stoning and polishing the sides, and I have to say I trust the gun with my life. No issues what so ever. the quality is there. Only thing is, your gonna have to blue the sides if you dont want them polished. just a heads up.
Looks Great(07.04.2013)
Both the Hammer and sear fit perfect with no fitting required. I dropped this in my Colt 1991-A1 45acp and it not only works great in looks the part also.
Wilson Auto value line hammer(08.07.2013)
Dropped right in perfect on my Springfield 1911 Mil Spec. Hammer is a more smoother on trigger pull.
Great Upgrade(18.11.2013)
Installed this hammer along with the value line sear in my Springfield MilSpec. Dropped in with no issues. Did not do any polishing and the trigger pull improved greatly. Much crisper than original. Showed it to a friend who has been shooting 1911s for 30+ years and he wanted to know who did the trigger job!
Buy IT!(28.01.2014)
I have used many of these hammers over the years from Wilson Combat, they have never let me down. I just recently installed this along with the value sear in a High Standard 1911 Government. No fitting required, just a little polishing to smooth things up.
Looks good, Works great(05.03.2014)
Installed this hammer with Wilsons Drop in fit beaver tail on my Rock Island A1. Very nice trigger pull, very good finish.
If you are a gunsmith(25.09.2014)
watch out for this hammer. The hammer sear engagement surface is rotated about 7° counterclockwise as shown (towards the hammer face). That puts the hammer hook inner surfaces at just about the same slope as a properly dressed sear hammer engagement surface when the two are fully engaged. The sear surface staying engaged with the inner surface of the hammer hooks as the sear rotates out of engagement creates maximum opportunity for creep. The hooks need to be undercut to minimize creep.
Drops in as advertised(14.11.2014)
Hammer fits perfectly in my 1911. The only thing I was not crazy about when I opened the package was that the sides were not blued as shown in the picture. The wide surfaces and where the sear rides are all blued but not the sides. I did change my mind after installing the hammer, the silver sides make it look great. nice product, good fit, The lower rounded profile compared to the factory hammer will lessen the chance of clothes snags when carrying concealed.
Excellent!(11.12.2014)
I did some light stoning with a ceramic stone on the engagement surfaces to make sure they were perfect and a few equally light touches on the sear relief angle. I then installed them both hammer and sear. I had to adjust the hammer hook engagement a small amount (guessing less than .005") as the hammer initially followed the slide back into battery. Functioning now seems perfect. Trigger pull is light and clean, all safeties function properly.
I won't have the final answer until I try it at the range, but it's looking pretty good right now.
Excellent hammer & sear(14.03.2015)
Typical Wilson quality (superb). Using a soft Arkansas stone the primary & secondary sear angles were polished. Angles were already correct but there was a small bump (perhaps from MIM) that had to be polished off. Hammer looked perfect so it was not touched with a stone. Assembled the pistol dry & the Lyman digital gauge showed 3# 12 oz. Lubed hammer & sear with Teflon lube & the pull is now a consistent 3# 4 oz.
Hard to believe that a low cost hammer & sear gave great results without a lot of messing around. The sear is quite hard & it should last a long time.
very misleading(20.02.2016)
simple drop in hammer but the main picture shows hammer and sear. when I received just the hammer in the main I was bummed, thank god it works with my sear.
Nothing to it!(02.03.2017)
I purchased this hammer, along with the appropriate grip safety, for my Rock Island Armory 1911 G.I. model, to make the minor modification so I would not get "hammer bite" any longer. There was really nothing to it. It dropped easily into place, along with the grip safety, and now my pistol shoots great, is a lot easier to control and is far more comfortable to shoot than in its original version. I am so pleased that the phone call I made for help to Brownell's turned out to be so wonderful. The technician knew exactly the drop in parts I needed. He gave me the stock #'s, I ordered and voila! My pistol is better than ever! Thanks, guys!
Wilson Value Line Sear(17.06.2009)
I was having trouble with trigger pull on my CCW carry. Having a couple of the value sears on hand I decided to drop one in the gun and see what happened. Without alterations or stoning I had a 2 7/8 lb trigger!!! I will adjust to make it 3+ lbs. Perfect value with, for me, drop in ease. Very crisp trigger pull and light.
Look no further for exceptional quality(27.12.2009)
I used this hammer sear combination in my Marvel Conversion shooting Bullseye competition. I have the trigger at a pound and a half. This combination has gone for over 12000 rounds. I am replacing the hammer sear again and using the same product, why mess with perfection!
Great product(17.04.2010)
Bought this hammer/sear combination to replace the factory parts on a new Springfield Milspec 1911-A1. As delivered the gun had a very rough 8 lb trigger pull, with a good deal of creep. The hammer dropped right in. The only adjustment needed to the sear was trimming a few thousandths off the safety shelf so the safety could engage. After installation, I had a clean 4 lb trigger with zero creep. This also allowed me to install a beavertail safety. Excellent product. Highly recommended.
A good combination with VL Hammer(31.07.2010)
This sear was a little rough, requiring a little more smoothing than normal due to a seam line resulting from the manufacturing process. However, once it is smoothed and fitted properly, the trigger is great. I have one on my 1911 for over 7 years and it has performed well. I recently installed one on a customer's Colt Goverment Model, and it he is very pleased with the results.
SA Loaded(09.07.2011)
Bought these to replace factory parts on my SA Loaded 9mm. The hammer is drop-in with factory sear without any adjustments. Only, you will not have the full benefit without matching sear. The value sear had to be slightly filed in my case to allow thumb safety to be full engaged. It makes the release now much smoother and without "sandy" feel as with the factory parts.
great value(01.02.2012)
needed some stoning done or would have been 5 stars. other than that works great!
WC Sear(27.08.2012)
Bought this sear along with the WC Value Line Hammer. The angle only needed slight stoning to get just right and I needed to work on the sear for about an hour to shorten it, but I'll chalk that up to ''required fitting" or whatever term you seem fit to apply. Either way, great product! Two thumbs up, for sure.
Great product, but needs stoning(23.09.2012)
The sear had a great looking cut on it right out of the box, but it was too long to fit my remington R1. The hammer wouldnt lock when you racked the slide. Once I stoned it to .020" It worked awesome. Good quality and has shot excellent since the trigger job!
No Brainer(28.01.2014)
I haves used many of these along with the WC Hammer over the years, just needed a little smoothing out but otherwise dropped right in a new High Standard 1911.
Great product for the money(14.07.2014)
I picked up an ATI Govt. Model for protection. Out of the box it had a 10-lb.+ trigger pull. I reworked the original hammer and sear and was able to achieve a 6.5# pull. Not being satisfied with the creep or pull I ordered the Wilson Combat Value Line Hammer & Sear. With a little bit of polishing of the Wilson Sear and hammer hooks, I achieved a 3-lb 10oz. trigger with no other alterations. This pistol now has a very nice, yet very predictable release.
Great Value!(25.09.2014)
If you know what you are doing, this is a great sear for the price. It is longer than spec so you have plenty of room for stoning the sear hammer engagement surface and the relief angle. Not recommended for novices. This is NOT a "drop-in" part! If you want a drop-in trigger job, go with one of the Cylinder & Slide sets - more bucks but much safer if you don't know how to properly fit.
Sweet!(11.12.2014)
I did some light stoning with a ceramic stone on the engagement surfaces to make sure they were perfect and a few equally light touches on the sear relief angle.
