Fast, Foolproof Staking Without Damaging Key, Screws, Or Carrier
Precision-machined, solid steel tool lets you stake the carrier key screws the best way—from the sides—to ensure they don't back out under the most strenuous rapid-fire conditions. Eliminates the hassle of trying to stake the screws with a hammer and punch that could slip and damage the key, screws, or carrier. Holds carrier securely and positions the key so it can be dimpled in the correct locations by tightening the four hex screws on the tool. An additional retaining screw on top of the tool prevents the carrier from moving. The tip of this screw is machined flat to make sure it applies even retaining force and won't mar the carrier. All screw tips are hardened to Rc 58-62 for durability; however, sometimes screws will break, so we offer a 4-pak of replacement screws.

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread(10.01.2010)
This tool has got to be the fastest, easiest way to stake the carrier key bolts. It will give you neat and even stakes every time. If you find yourself installing carrier keys on a regular basis, this is a must have tool.
Sweeeeeeet(26.01.2010)
A co-worker brought his to my shop, and it was all over for me. Sure beats using hammer and punch. Leaves a perfect professional looking result with the slightest of ease.
This is the best Staking Tool out there!(08.02.2011)
This tool is a must have if you do a lot of AR15 builds. Very easy to use with absolute perfect results every time! It can be clamped into a vise yet heavy enough to lay on a bench. Very solid and sturdy. Sure is easier and much better than punch and hammer. The stakes are solid when used properly and prevent Bolt Migration.
Staking tool(15.12.2011)
So easy my 2 year old helped. Achieving high qaulity proffessional results have never been this easy. It took mabey five minutes to stake the key. My key was constantly coming loose resulting in a "short stroke". I just got back from a little "stress test" and couldn't induce a FTL or FTF. Well worth the money. I have atached some pictures of the finished product.
Excellent tool(18.11.2012)
Puchased this to re-stake all of my departments long gun bolts as they had not been staked properly from the factory and the gas key had come loose on several rifles. This is a very heavy duty staking tool and I was able to stake 15 + keys with no problem. I have also used the staking points to stake other parts on the rifle such as the castle nut. Simply unscrew them and use a hammer to stake them. I highly recommend this product.
Not the best of it's type.(03.03.2016)
My agency has this tool. I am a COLT LE armorer with extensive .mil and .le experience with the platform, as well as extensive personal experience and ownership. After staking four gas keys, my issues with this tool are:
1. Stakes too high on gas key. This results in very sharp edges and a questionable amount of material impinging on the screws. The staking bolts' points actually are forced higher when turning them into the gas key.
2. Staking mechanism (sharpened, hardened allen bolts) are too sharp and actually cut the metal, versus deforming it. Again, sharp edges and too little material left to impinge on screws. Further, it really destroys the finish, leaving bare metal.
3. The tool's alignment is off a bit, resulting in very slightly off-centered (versus gas key screw axis) stakes.
If you expect MilSpec-like results, IMO this is not the answer. The stakes will look amateurish and butchered, versus what is seen on a Colt factory-staked gas key. It is likely serviceable with regards to doing the job, however, and probably better (and faster) than a hammer and punch for most folks. But for serious use, look elsewhere, such as the MOAKS tools from Ned Christiansen. I have no affiliation and don't own his product at this time, but I have used it in the past with success. We chose the Brownells unit because it was easily to purchase with our existing account, but I can't recommend it to others at this time.
Note, images show a BCG that was staked 15 minutes ago. Bare metal highlights on edges are from stoning to reduce the sharp burrs from the Brownells tool, which was necessary even after light peening with a small hammer.
