If you have big hands, the .380 Mustang leaves your baby finger hanging in mid air.
My 'feel' of a secure grip on the weapon is lacking with my baby finger just doing nothing.
The little grip extension and the added length of the magazine gives my baby finger something to do.
Completely transformed my opinion of this weapon.
I highly recommend this magazine, and have purchased more since my initial experience.
The price is very reasonable for a stainless steel magazine.
Not bad but could be better(11.02.2018)
This mag has a plus and a minus for me. Minus, I was hoping this extension would allow me to place 3 fingers on the grip but not quite. The pinky winds up on the point of the extension. The plus is that it provides plenty of room for a strong 2 finger grip and the pinky under the mag. Not too bad overall. The fit of the extension with the mag inserted, with mine at least, leaves a gap towards the rear. The front is snug but then it opens up. Aesthetics I guess.
Pretty Good(02.09.2012)
I ordered one of these to see how it compared to the Sig mag, and found it to be decent for range use so far. I ran roughly 50 rounds through it and only had one failure to feed. This is not necessarily the magazine, but I do not have that problem with either Sig mag I own. The bottom plate of this magazine is slightly longer than the factory mag, but I didn't even notice while shooting. All in all a decent magazine and I will definitely be ordering another 2 to use at the range.
Cheap but Quality!(07.02.2013)
I bought several of these because I wasn't paying $46 for a piece of aluminum stamped with Sig Sauer's name and it turned out to be a great choice. The follower is certainly different from the P238 one and I thought that would cause some issues but after firing a box of 50 through both magazines I have yet to have a failure.
When loading a fresh magazine, especially one with Critical Defense, you can't use the slide release. You've got to pull it back and let her rip or else you'll jam it up but that is truthfully the only issue I've encountered and it's not even a major one. I've added one of these to my EDC and the other is a spare/range mag. You can't go wrong.
Excellent magazine(13.03.2013)
Bought this and one of the extended for my Sig P238. The standard mag fits and functions perfectly but the extended will not fit. It is too short to engage the mag lock. I will be sending it back and ordering more of the standard 6 round mags as they are well designed and function perfectly.
Fit and function: Flawless in my P238(09.06.2013)
After reading other reviews, I figured this would be a safe bet for fit in the P238, which it is. No issues with magazine loading, loading/fit in the pistol, chambering, locking or ejection. Magazine lock and release works fine. Another review mentioned the plate may be a bit longer than the factory mags. I haven't measured, but if there is a difference, it's negligible. I have no problems ordering more of these.
Good Magazine(28.09.2013)
Bought two for my Colt Mustang XSP and both worked perfect. Better quality than the two Colt magazines that came with gun.
Got a Colt? Get a Colt Mag!(27.12.2014)
I bought this Metalform .380 magazine, convinced by advertising they were interchangeable with Colt. Alas, that was not true in my experience. It didn't load well into the firearm and would not eject without a lot of coaxing. Loaded one up at the range and the thing would not feed right no matter what I tried. I tossed it into the range garbage can, drove home and ordered a Colt magazine. If it works for your situation, good. Mine didn't.
Good as Colt brand(03.06.2017)
I purchased 3 just to try out & I couldn't tell any difference in doing a blind test.....no malfunctions at all.
You need to load/unload 3-4X before you attempt to use them. Work the internal parts well. It frees them up & removes any burrs & such that'll cause a failure to load a round into the barrel.
All & all, I'm glad they ran out of Colt brand. I got more magazines for my money.......I reordered immediately after testing them this weekend....I ordered 8 more. Hopefully I didn't screw myself.......time & use will be the true test.
