The Lastest version of our Model 1000 flash hole deburring tool features stainless steel construction and chip clearance slots which alleviate the tendency of the tool to collect chips in the end of the cutting shaft. This tool is inserted in the case mouth and uses the web of the case as a safety stop. A couple of turns will remove any burrs and leave a small chamfer on the inside edge of the flash hole. Flash hole deburring is a one-time operation. Since variations of case length do not affect the use of this tool, flash hole deburring is most easily performed on brand new brass without trimming. This tool is available as the 05-1000 standard Generation II flash hole tool which consists of the cutting shaft and the tapered guide. For handloaders who perfer a large, comfortable handle, this tool is also available as the 05-1255 which includes the Sinclair large grip handle found on many of our other tools. For handloaders who already own this or our previous Model 1000 Flash Hole Deburring Tool the large Sinclair handle is available separately as the 05-1320.

Great Improvement(22.01.2011)
I own the previous version of this tool and would always have the chips build up and stop the tool from cutting effectively. Now with the relief cuts to clear the chips this works great. I do most of my brass prep over the winter when there isn't much shooting and usually do a couple thousand at a time. This tool works right through them all without any stops.
G 2 Universal FlashHole Deburring Tool(01.03.2011)
This tool is easy to set for depth. I find that when I am cleaning my cases that I don't get media stuck in the bottom.
"Try this and you will be glad you did"(10.03.2011)
This primer pocket deburring tool is outstanding. The ease of operation is unmathed by any other I have used and it is very well made. The price is reasonable for a high quality tool that will last a lifetime.
Should have bought this long ago(23.03.2011)
I have used other brands, but they pale compared to this one. The universal "cone" pilot works awesome. One tool for all the calibers I will ever need. The cutter itself works perfectly.
A Must Have Tool(26.03.2011)
This is the first step for me in case preparation.
I have found a few large burrs literally blocking part of the flash hole and this tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. The Sinclair tool out performs my former tool hands down.
I really like that it has a safety stop when the de-burr and chamfering process is complete.
I use it for .45-70 Government, .454 Casull, .44 Mag, and .308 Win. It works perfectly every time.
simple but effective(27.03.2011)
very easy and inexpensive to use that gives you no reason of not using it.
Superior Consistency(11.04.2012)
The cutter end of this tool has a shoulder stop so that the depth of bevel is the same from one case to the next. Other tools rely on the case neck for depth of cut, and the results were less uniform. 338 Win Mag Remington, Hornady, and Federal cartridges all had cratered flash hole openings inside the cases. This tool removed and neatly beveled them. It left a clean, clear nozzle for the primer flame. Group consistency improved. Worth the extra cost over other tools.
Universal(28.06.2012)
A bit misleading! "uses the web of the case as a safety stop" maybe so but on small cases half the web thickness would be removed before it stopped, being able to adjust the stop would in fact chamfer the flash hole based on the web. This tool still uses the case neck like many others to controal the depth of cut. The tapered stop is good for various case sizes as advertised but I prefer the older stops myself. The older model has a cutter on both sides of the shaft this model only has a cutter on one.
Dont get me wrong its universal and it works!
Works well(09.10.2012)
Functions well on a range of different calibres and is easy to adjust and set up.
Works well(25.03.2013)
Another super quality sinclair tool. Every Sinclair product I've tried has been very high quality. Good tools make the job easier and enjoyable.
Very good replacement(17.05.2013)
I purchased this tool after getting tired of regluing the bit on my previous tool.So far I have used it on 2000 9mm and 2500 308 cases, it has preformed flawlessly. You do however have to make sure all the cases are the same length, otherwise you will get different degrees of cuts. This is a very solid tool, heavy built handle, shaft and bit. The flat on the shaft could use to be a bit longer, as when setting it up on 9mm the pilot locks down on the round part, not the flat, this allows the pilot to move lose adjustment time.
Very Nice Tool!(06.09.2014)
Just finished deburring 100 cases and the tool worked as advertised. Universal cone allows the tool to be used on multiple caliber cases. The tip and shank are one piece, so there is no concern of the tip coming loose.
Sinclair Gen II FlashHole Tool w/ Handle(25.08.2015)
Quite a bid of research went into this decision. Many to choose from a lot of different manufactures. I am not looking for high production rate, electric driven, caliber specific unit, yet I want a quality product. Several press manufactures highly recommended this unit. They are correct, it exceeded my expectations. I reload a lot of military brass. It cuts so easily I didnât think it was working until I had a pile of brass shavings on the bench. No need to push and grind to get it to work, just a few turns and itâs done. Very easy to adjust to different lengths. Jumping from a 223 to 300 Win Mag, no problem. Do order it with a handle, much easier to operate. When done, clean it with a tooth brush, drop of oil and put the protective cap back on.
Won't fit range brass in .223(18.04.2016)
I focused in on this product because it's self bottoming, meaning you are not relying on the case mouth to prevent over reaming your flash hole. It works great, and evidence of it doing its job is some brass doesn't need it and produces no shavings, whereas others produce long curly brass shavings. I chucked it in a cordless drill. After about 50 casings, you establish a routine of uniform pressure and time. LOVE the tools. The downside is the shipping was almost 50% of the cost of the tool itself, and curiously, it doesn't fit range brass in .223/5.56. The shaft only fit down approximately 1/3 of my range pickups. That was a real disappointment because the alternatives don't have the self bottoming feature, so you'll have to trim every piece of brass before using the competitor's products.
Essential(09.02.2011)
A tool that does all calibres...Bargain at the price. Sick of getting flyers for no reason...then debur you flash holes with this simple tool and eliminate them. Although the manufacture says this is a one off use tool for the life of the case I used to use it every time just to help clean the powder residue...But now I use a Hornady Ultrasinic for successive cleaning.
Nice improvement over Gen I(20.02.2011)
This tool is a good improvement over the previous generation. The openings that allow the brass shavings to fall away from the cutter are a great improvement and accelerate operation (I put mine in a drill and run at a low speed). I don't have to stop every 6 or 8 rounds to clear out the build up of chips that are obstructing the cutter. I have one observation/suggestion. I use it to prep .223/5.56 brass for NRA/CMP service rifle. It does a fine and fast job. However, the shaft of the tool just fits inside the mouth of a case. The outer edges of the chip clearance slots are finished rather sharp and they had a tendency to try and grab and gouge the inside of case necks. I used a small and fine file to very carefully chamfer that outer edge. Now it runs very smoothly when used manually or when powered. I recommend this tool for all your flash hole deburring work.
Beware NOT universal(18.05.2011)
It works well down to .223 REM but the shaft diamater will not allow its use with .204 or .17 So it works but it is NOT universal Sinclair were very helkpful in recommending something for .204 so I got there in the end
Flashhole Deburring -- Best on the Marke(21.12.2011)
I use this tool to deburr .223 cartridge cases while prepping the cases for competition. The tool is simple in design and works without cutting anything other than the burr. I have used 20 or so of these tools over the past 6 plus years, processing nearly 2.0 million cases.
Recently, the quality control has not been up to par, and the tool will dull after 20,000 pieces of brass processed. My suggestion would be to replace the current bit with titanium...which may cost more, but it will also last longer.
Did Not like it(29.06.2013)
Like many of Sinclair products this one is made very well, the down side of the product is it cuts too deep if you rely on the stop and the head, Using it on 223 is concerning. A search on the web will show the same results I got. I prefer the older double sided version, you get 2 cutters that will last longer. I use a drill and a A quck one count and the bur is gone.
Sinclair you need to adjust the cutting depth to just shave off the bur and not drill so deep into the case head. Then the tool would be better buts still not double sided like the older model.
