Enhances Control & Pointability While Minimizing Fatigue In The "Ready" Position
Low-profile forward grip/hand stop takes advantage of natural body mechanics to give the shooter more precise control, faster pointing, and less operator fatigue. The Magpul AFG™ (Angled Fore-Grip) positions the support hand close to the centerline of the bore for maximum recoil control to aid in fast, accurate follow-up shots. Provides a consistent reference point for finding the correct hand position quickly when mounting the weapon under stress. The natural, ergonomic hand position with the palm facing up results in better blood flow than the “clenched fist” stance often used with vertical grips that leads to fatigue and loss of sensation during long periods in the ready position. Improves on the “thumb break” hold often used with standard vertical grips by allowing the thumb to rest comfortably alongside the top rail, pointing forward, with the rest of the hand in full contact with the forend. Heavy-duty reinforced molded polymer construction stands up to the hard knocks of tactical operations, and deep, molded-in grooves help you maintain a firm grip even with wet hands. Interchangeable inserts give the choice of a straight, uninterrupted gripping surface or one with a convenient ledge to support the index finger. Slides over any Picatinny-style rail and locks securely in place with a hardened steel crossbolt. The original AFG1™ provides a large grasping surface and covers approximately 5½" of rail.
SPECS: Reinforced molded polymer, Black, Dark Earth, or O.D. Green. Fits Picatinny-type rails. AFG1 - 5½" (14cm) long, approximately 15⁄8" (4.1cm) wide, extends approximately 1¾" (4.5cm) below rail. 2.8 oz. (79g) weight.

Very Ergonomic(26.07.2010)
I just received my AFG in dark earth color today. It looks great on my M4! The angle of the grip naturally conforms to my wrist and hand position on my rifle. As advertised, the angled grip greatly improved my "thumb break" hold as compared to my vertical grip. Very ergonomic design. For my medium build the grip gives me less stress on my reaction arm, wrist and hand and the angle allows me to pull the rifle butt tight into my shoulder for a more stable shooting position. The downside is that it would be a bit difficult to use tactical lights when using this grip... especially if one prefers to use the end cap to activate it momentarily. However if the pressure tape is used and depending on the position of the tape, there probably won't be a problem. If not for my issue with using tac lights with this grip, I'd give it five stars.
Great grip(16.01.2011)
This grip give me a much better purchase on my rifle than using traditional straight grips. Allows me to pull the rifle straight back instead of slightly to the side as is an issue in straight grips. I use a left side mounted light with tailcap activation and my thumb falls almost perfectly to use the light when needed. The AFG2 is slightly better for those with small hands but this grip does the trick.
excellent product(19.02.2011)
gives a comfortable angle over the VFG.
Love The AFG II - No More Vertical Grips(11.11.2011)
I specifically ordered the Magpul AFG II to review for my fellow firearms enthusiasts. I ordered the dark earth version on the AFG to use on my newest AR-15 build. I can tell you I absolutely love it. I also own the AFG version I which is on my other AR-15 and I can say that it has been improved and for the better! The version II is a little smaller/compact and definately feels better in my hand. Some can't, but I definately notice the differences between the two on my AR's.
The AFG II attaches very easily to your quad rail with little or no effort at all. Remove the screw, slide it on to the desired position, replace the screw and tighten her down...thats it! I have seen plenty of AFG's placed closer to the receiver on the rail, but I have mine at the very end of my 12" Yankee Hill Diamond Series free float hand guard. This allows me to have a very controllable grip with my left arm fully extended and thumb pointed at my target.
The AFG II is very comfortable and can even be reconfigured with removable inserts giving a smooth grip or ledge for your finger. I left the ledge peice on as it feels like I have more control...maybe, maybe not. The grip is very well designed and has several deep groves that assist with control when holding it.
The AFG II may not have improved my accuracy, but it has definately improved my target aqusition time and follow up shots as compared to my older vertical grips. Another great innovation from Magpul and I would recommend to anyone who is serious about having control over their rifle. You will not be disappointed!

I've been looking for a front handgrip for my patrol rifle for a while and am glad I waited. When I saw this one, I liked the idea of the angled grip, but was a little apprehensive that it was so inexpensive. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for.
I decided to give it a try because it is made by Magpull who is known for quality and backed by Brownells who has a no hassle return policy.
I was not disappointed. This handgrip is very well made. I compare it to the grip on my Glock 27. My pinky finger even hangs off the bottom just like my Glock.
My only complaint is that it does not conform closely to my front handgrip.
This thing rules(15.01.2010)
I have tried many foregrips, CAA folding, Ergo, Promag and this one in my opinion is the best. Very comfortable on my carbine length AR.
beautiful(15.01.2010)
Does exactly what it says & more. I expect nothing less from the innovators at Magpul Dynamics though. Im not a fan of putting Bipods on ARs, I prefer having a more steamlined setup. However, if you need to make a precise shot you can throw your pack down and rest the weapon on it. A full size vertical grip gets in the way, this does not. Nicely done Magpul.
perfect(15.01.2010)
I just recently put this on my patrol rifle, and have had several opportunities to use it. I find that it is easier to manipulate the weapon than with a traditional fore grip.
Excellent product(20.01.2010)
Great fit and finish. Easy to install. I am very anxious to get to the range and see how much more comfortable it is over a vertical foregrip on the rifle.
Will not fit(20.01.2010)
Nice grip but will not fit if you have a sling ring, they should tell you ahead in add. That's why I gave one star.
Not user friendly!(25.01.2010)
Need to remove sling swivel to install. Finger rise hitw the middle of the palm. Have to twist wrist and palm to hold. Not a natural fit. Not a quick access to stock.
WOW This is a dandy hand hold.(27.01.2010)
Absolutly one of the best forward hand holds i have used in a long time. Easy to grip and hold without fatigue. Not only looks good but is also functional with added control of recol for recurring shots. I think Magpul equipment is on of the best ad-ons you can buy.
Ergonomic(12.03.2010)
As a Infantry soldier and a police SWAT Operator, this meets or exceeds my CQB and long range requirements. It is an extremely ergonomic component to the AR platform. The typical "gangster grips" get hooked on everything and are not easy to manipulate in vehicles or other tight environments. In the world of excessive AR add-ons, this rates at the top of my list.
MAGPUL AFG(03.04.2010)
fits great with no gaps took 30 secs to install. the removable finger shelf was a plus. It should come in two sizes tho I found it alittle small for my bigger hand. would like to see it have a built in switch and wire for Surefire lighting
great quality cheap price very effective(21.04.2010)
Cheap and rugged. fits my rails solidly. no more/much less wrist cramps, more comfortable and better control than my 90o front grips. great little item.
AFG Not so good on a Carbine(10.05.2010)
The grip its self is great but for it to be used to its fullest potential it needs to be at least on a mid-length forearm. The carbine rail is too short in my opinion for the AFG and will put your hand in a unnatural position. Once it is moved out further away then it feels great and is a fast pointer. I will run it on there until I can get a longer (rifle length) forearm. This may work great for people with very short arms but @ 6'2" not for me.
The AFG is made great and and is made in America!
Angled grip(07.06.2010)
Grip is too small for my XL hands.
Plastic is slippery; I'd vote for a more rubbery surface.
Could not mount it easily due to my unique rail configuration. Splitting it and putting it over the rail was slow.
Mediocre fore grip(04.07.2010)
This AFG is alright once you get used to it, but it is not nearly as intuitive to use a say a 12 dollar broom handle grip. It will seem awkward to use for some time, and then it becomes second nature. The most appealing attribute would be its looks. This thing is aesthetically pleasing. If you are looking for the Tacti-cool factor, go for it. If you are looking for functionality, save your coin.
Love it! Beats a broom handle any day.(08.09.2010)
Use the AFG on my duty rifle. Removed the Tango Down vertical grip and installed this. Much more natural feel and better control of the weapon. Perfect CQB accessory. Easy to install. Let several of my guys use it and they have all switched over.
Quality product(08.10.2010)
I used this fore grip because wanted to achieve unification of the grip (pistol and rifle). I have instal this fore grip to leapers aluminum quadrail of my AK-104. It was necessary to get used a little to this fore grip, but subsequently it has completely justified my expectations.
* Ergonomic * reliable * Quickly you get used * good grip * Doesn't disturb to a reload Kalashnikov series rifles
Solid(29.12.2010)
Well made love,it. Be warned depending on your size and gun, it make take a little getting used to.
AFG grip suggestion(01.08.2011)
As mentioned in some of the other reviews this really works best on a mid-length or full-length handguard. However, I figured out a solution for my carbine with a YHM handguard that works very well. I mounted the grip so that the front of the grip assembly is just slightly forward of the rear of the bayonet lug. (See picture) This gives a reach similar to a mid-length and it is very comfortable for me. (I take a 34"/35" shirt sleeve and am 6') There is no weakness with the attachment when mounted like this. I did have to very slightly relieve to top edges of the grip to clear the screws at the front of YHM handguard. The AFG gives very good control when tracking targets.
Magpul AFG2 with Magpul handguards(14.09.2011)
Very nice product, although if using it with the Magpul handguards some tweaking is required. If you slide the AFG all the way forward on the Magpul handguards, the rail slot does not quite match up with the screw holeâit is about a millimeter off. I was surprised that the AFG didn't fit better with the handguards since Magpul makes both, but it only takes about 60 seconds to shave off the front two corners of the rail guide on the AFG (see the pictureâ¦you'll have to look close to see the modification since it is not much plastic that needs to come off). Once that little issue is remedied with a sharp knife (make sure to cut AWAY from your body, btw!) the AFG fits very nicely and looks awesome!
A better way of doing things(28.12.2011)
This item is so much better than any vertical foregrip that i have used. It is very comfortable, easy to install. the lock tight is supplied on only one of the screws, so i just used clear nail polish for the other two. I highly recommend this item for women, as it made it easier for my wife to hold her rifle up for an extended period of time. Magpul, you have a good item here.
Best Fore Grip On The Market(14.08.2012)
I'm using this fore grip on my 11.5 inch select fire duty weapon. Much easier to control on full auto than any of the 'broomhandles', plus I can still rest the forend on a window sill, vehicle, sandbag, ect... Also like the 'stop' at the front of the grip, prevents slipping hand too close to the muzzle of short barrels and works great against a barricade. Everybody who shoots mine wants one...
buy it(11.01.2013)
as most magpul items a lil to expensive for being plastic. very sturdy, heavy duty, will not break under abuse. good ergonomics and comfortable
Interesting(12.03.2014)
First off, super easy to install and modify. I removed the index finger ledge and put the smooth one in. Little funky at first, but a couple minutes of adjusting my hold and the position of the grip on the rail and it was easy to get used to. The only thing that is still bugging me is the length of the grip. Not the length on the rail, but it feels like the angled part of the grip could be a little longer to fit the whole palm and fingers without the pinky hanging off. Other than that, as stated in other reviews, it looks good, its tough and a great accessory to your AR platform. Dont hesitate on this one!
Mounted on a SBR(27.01.2015)
I put it on my SBR, and I had a feeling of insecurity, so I removed and I went w/ what I have in all my rifle, a vertical grip.
