Grips Need longer screws(10.06.2012)
These grips are very difficult to put on because they are too thick for the grip screws. You have to press really hard just get the screw to bite a little and it easily strips the screw. After stripping my screws I had to buy longer screws to install the grips. The grips have a great feel and are great once you get them on.
Hard to install but look great(14.11.2014)
These grips are nicely made, however; I had to stretch them quite a bit to fit my 1911. Seems the front strap is a bit short. Using a hair blow drier i managed to soften them enough to stretch them around my frame. Unless you have somekind of oil/lotion your hands (then nothing will help) they will NOT slip on these grips even when wet. Very stable and comfortable to hold and shoot. Look great also.
Great set of Pachmayr Grips(21.06.2011)
Bought these for a Colt Officers Model .45 and they fit and feel great. They also add a nice bit to the look of the pistol.
Great grips(12.07.2009)
I have always loved Pachmyr and have installed them on all my duty weapons. That said, I guess I am biased in favor of this product.
Good Grip(23.01.2011)
Only downside on the one I bought (a few years ago) was that it was not cut out for a ambi safety. I had to notch it out which took about 20min. other than that fantastic grip.
I'll buyanother for sure!!(10.02.2011)
I bought my first 1911-A1 as a college student. I couldn't afford to get one with a checkered front strap. This grip gives you amazing purchase on the weapon! I would definitely recommend this grip!!
very aggressive grip(03.05.2012)
The greatest advantage of this grip is that its completly checkerd and is a very positve grip in your hand. Have used other grips with finger groves but this Pachmayr is a stand out. There's no need to adjust your grip once you grab your gun.
Maybe safest grips for the 1911 style(04.07.2012)
The Pacmayr 02919GM provides perhaps the most in safety from magazine explosion ect. All the time making for a very comfortable feel. Affordable yet the best bet for the all around all purpose grip stock for any 1911 Colt/clone style pistol. Really can't go wrong with these. Get a pair!
Just be aware on the(04.09.2013)
Have a brand new SA Loaded model parkerized . Bought the PM grips and used it during the hot summer . My sweat must have gotten behind the front strap of the pistol. Rusted the front strap under the grips faster than bare steel in ocean water ! Good thing I can re- parkerize it myself. Lube the finish of your weapon well before putting these grips on ! Just some friendly advice .
Good Wrap-Around Grips(28.12.2013)
Installed a pair on a Colt Commander. They were a tight fit but they fit nonetheless. The grips do add a little bit of width to the grip, which I find to be more comfortable. Dependent upon one's preferences the wrap-around portion of the grip provides a cheap alternative for checkering.
The grip is of medium roughness, certainly not as rough as actual metal. I would have preferred them to be a little more substantial.
Honestly in my experience, rubber-wrap-around 1911 grips are either love/hate. Some people swear by them while others swear them off. If you like them or think you might, Pachmayr is pretty much the standard to which all other grips of this kind are judged.
Game changer for me(03.02.2017)
Bought these to put on a new Ruger 1911 Target model. No checkering on the front strap and slick but attractive grips had the gun moving around in my hand. Very nice that the product description for this particular grip stated that there was a relief cut for the right side ambi safety. That is a must have if you have ambi's. These were a little tricky to get on. As with most things gun you need 3 hands to do the job. Finally got the grip on, headed to the range and the difference in "controllability" and accuracy was night and day. Not for everybody as some folks just dont like rubber grips and they are not as nice looking as Rosewood or as tacticool as some of the G10 grips but they really work for me.
Very comfortable and fills the hand.(14.04.2010)
Bought these for an FEG Hi Power, a clone of Browning's 9mm Hi Power, and they work great. Had some difficulty getting the back strap cover to stay in place - could have been designed a little better - but after some fiddling got it to work. The finger grips are my favorite feature but the back strap cover are what makes these grips a stand out by filling the hand. If you have small hands the back strap can be left off.
Be Patient! (22.05.2016)
These are great grips, from two great companies: Pachmayr and Brownells! However, be patient when installing them. They are a close fit, and some "hand warming" of the rubber helps them stretch just a bit. I did mine in the morning before coffee, and while my hands where still strong. As mentioned, the back strap takes a little work to get it in-place, be patient. I also trimmed the rubber around the screw buttresses inside the mag well, as they seemed to bear on the magazine. (A bit hard to tell here with the trigger / mag safety.) I installed these on a FEG clone. They do increase the circumference of the grip - great for large hands, perhaps too large for small hands.
