Flat Wire Construction For Maximum Reliability & Performance
These flat wire, high-quality action/buffer springs from champion shooter David Tubb will perform flawlessly and are duty rated for 500,000 compression cycles at maximum performance. Made to “extra power” specs without the extra material, these springs are surprisingly lightweight, yet exttremely durable. Gives correct timing and resistance on the recoil stroke and a controlled rebound ensures reliable feeding with consistent forward thrust on every shot. Keeps the bolt locked a little longer to allow pressures more time to subside for perfect cycling.
SPECS: Stainless steel. AR-15 fits both fixed and collapsible stocked AR-15 rifles and carbines without modification to spring or gun. AR-10 .308-style fits both AR-10 and SR-25/LR-308 platform Rifles and Carbines with either rifle or carbine receiver extensions.

perfect fit(23.09.2009)
flat coils plus a shorty buffer made it a perfect fit for my new 308 lower with a standard ar15 buffer tube.
The best spring available.(02.10.2009)
Outstanding product for your DPMS, Armalite, or Stoner. I installed this spring with the proper length and weight buffer in my DPMS. There is a perceived reduction in the sharpness of recoil and it has been 100% reliable in operation for several hundred rounds. If you are building an AR style .308, use this to maintain top performance.
Pretty awesome spring(18.06.2014)
This spring for my AR10 was pretty long and took some working to get it into the carbine tube but once it was in it worked great. Very smooth action.
A Good Choice(31.10.2009)
I'm not quite sure if it's the "miracle product" that it claims to be, but I think the gun does have a nicer recoil pulse. I can't really comment on it helping accuracy as the gun was already running about .75 MOA... but it difinitely didn't hurt accuracy. If your current spring is worn, I'd definitely go this route, but I probably wouldn't worry about changing to this until the original is no longer of use. Perfect function with everything from 55gr to 82gr bullets, so I have no worries about reliability on my end-- I can't speak for other bullet weights though.
Just Buy one(14.03.2010)
Decreases recoil and makes the gun move less during shooting. Really helps on double taps. NO reliability issues for me; runs perfectly even with cheap .223. Worth every penny.
Disappointed(30.07.2012)
No question more power in this spring. It is about 5 inches longer than the stock spring. Works with no problems or malfunctions. My only complaint is with the standard A2 stock the sprong sound is much louder and longer in duration than the standard spring. I think this is because of the flat wire opposed to the rounded stock spring. I keep reading the descriptions of other springs that are supposed to eliminate this noise. This does not. I am shooting with a 20x scope so my cheek weld is tight and my ear close to the stock. If I was to do it again I would buy a different brand of spring.
Terrible performance.(20.08.2013)
I bought this spring to fix some reliability issues I was having in a Dissipator model. After instalation I could not even cycle the weapon. I removed it and installed in an A4 model. Weapon would cycle but didnt seem smooth. Took the weapon out and fired 50 rounds before the spring would not allow the weapon to cycle. Only 8 times out of the 50 did the weapon cycle correctly after the shot. Issues ranged from not picking up the next round in the magazine(most common) to striping a round half way out of the mag and then stopping. I will be returning this spring ASAP.
Good and Solid!(25.05.2014)
I have used this flat wound spring on both of my AR's. The stock spring would twang when the bolt went forward. The stock spring just didn't sound solid and tight. This product did not twang at all. Good solid sound when the bolt slams home!
Superior Shooting buffer springs(06.06.2014)
I have used these springs on just about every type ar-15 / 308 and use them in my personal guns . They perform as advertised . a plus is the sprong is gone.
Did not work for me...(10.06.2014)
I installed this AR-15 CS Buffer Spring in my Smith&Wesson M&P15 carbine and no matter what I did my rifle would not cycle. I tried 3 different weight buffers and still the bolt would not strip the next round off the magazine and into the chamber. I had no failures to eject or extract but this spring would not allow my BCG to go rearward enough to cycle properly. I disassembled my gas block and check for alignment and blockage but all was O.K. I replace this spring with my original buffer spring and my rifle runs like a beast. it was a waste of money for me. I really can't see where a spring could make much of a difference anyway but I had to try it. If your rifle works O.K. don't fix it.
Worked betetr than expected by far(18.06.2014)
I shoot anywhere from 52 grain to 77 grain and heavy to light loads and never had a problem except I felt a thud, thunk that that I could actually feel wether using sig piston upper, gas upper grendel you name it and would cause weapon if on bench ( I hate bench shooting)to kick hard to side so I tried a chromium spring and a few other "big brand"and no different so gave last $10 chromium to friend and it smoothed his gun out like glass and so I decided to Finally try this spring as the man is not dumb, in fact in tune with weapons and now I am so happy I did. No more thunk kick. I never hear or care about spring sound so no clue there but I do know my 3/8 to 1/2" spreads are now down to 1/4 or less if I am trying and 3/8 if I am not. The olds were me trying at 100 and pulled off a 3 shot clover at 200. For me this thing worked and worked well. If your gun will not cycle with this spring you have other problems because the overall tension is about the same as spec calls for it just adds primary tension from what I can tell and that's a good thing.
There are much better products avaliable(08.07.2014)
I tried these springs in a variety of carbine and rifle length guns, some of which had adjustable gas blocks. The carbine length guns did not function properly and would not lock back on an empty mag even with the gas ports set full open. Made the action very hard to cycle by hand and was impossible for a female shooter to even lock the bolt to the rear. Even a high rifle length gun seemed âgrittyâ when cycling compared to other CS springs on the market. And these did not take the âtwangâ out of the guns. I returned all that I had purchased.
Great Product!(08.07.2014)
Installs easily and solves many problems from poor extraction to short stroking of action.
Epic Fail(21.09.2014)
Put this in a fairly new (1,000 rds) Noveske Light Recce N-4, 24 "fail to feed" in first 28 rd mag. I took it back out, put back stock spring. 200 rds, no more fails.
Epic fail(21.09.2014)
Put this in my noveske light recce. 24 "fail to feeds" first 26 shots. (Federal 5.56) Took it back out, put old "cheap" spring in.....200 rounds no fails.
Last Buffer Spring You'll Ever Buy(14.12.2015)
I read the other reviews and can't help wonder if many of the folks with cycling issues accidentally purchased the 308 spring accidentally for use in their AR-15. Go watch the video on Superior Shooting's website regarding the function of these springs compared to mil-spec or extra power springs from another manufacturer- Sprinco. These flat-wire springs will last much longer because they don't bottom out or compress as far as standard springs. They also provide slightly more force at bolt lock than a new mil-spec spring while not adding additional force at rear travel, which winds up slamming the bolt home with too much force, as I experienced with the Red Springco springs. I have these on several AR15's including carbine and mid-length gas systems of various barrel lengths and they have functioned flawlessly. My 12.5" AR pistol barrel (carbine gas) is slightly over-gassed and this spring, along with an H3 buffer provides perfect 3:30 ejection with XM193.The additional force at lock up this spring provides can eliminate cases stuck in the chamber and reduce wear on the ejector, buy allowing the chamber pressure to subside prior to ejection. They do this while not increasing the spring force at the rear of travel, which can cause short stroking with other high power springs. Again, I would be inclined to think the folks with short-stroking issues ordered the 308 length spring. Regardless, cutting a few coils off of the 308 springs (or the AR length ones) in even under-gassed rifles would make them last even longer due to even less compression of the spring. See pic for comparison: Red Springco, Spikes Milspec, Tubbs 17-7 Flatwire Carbine.
And by the way, all flat wire buffer springs from Superior now shipping are 17-7 stainless, not chrome silicon. They still have the black coating for even more corrosion resistance though. Highly recommended if implemented properly.
OK these are extra power springs. They are to be used in a situation where that is needed. If you gun runs 100% with a stock spring and is not over gassed installation of this product will likely cause a lot of problems. I've been using these for years and they always yield the expected result and don't break down like a stock spring does. Best spring out there IF you need an extra power spring. It can also be cut if you don't need the extra power but want a spring that lasts forever.
Best buffer spring out there(11.05.2017)
I first installed one of these springs in my BushMaster Carbon 15 because I wanted help to tame recoil and because it would last almost forever. My next rifle has a Del-Ton upper with a 1-7 twist and a NATO chamber. I had a stock buffer spring in it. I loaded up some hot rounds and shot them. I felt a lot of recoil and was getting doubling rounds (I have a light trigger) and I was bouncing all the rounds off the case deflector. I put one of these buffer springs and an Enedine buffer in and what a difference. My gun is now the softest shooting AR I have. The brass is ejected straight out about 3 feet. I would highly recommend this product and I will use it in every rifle I have.
