Excellent!(25.01.2010)
I can't say enough good about this holster. It fits perfectly on my Kimber Ultra Covert II (3" barrel with Laser Grips). It holds the gun very securely and is amazingly comfortable. It's by far the best of all holsters I've tried with my carry gun and is made with great attention to detail.
Like a glove.(26.01.2010)
Perfect holster. Not much more to say. If you have an Officer model and want IWB, this is it.
All day carry made easy!!!(27.06.2010)
I purchased this holster for my Kimber Ultra Covert with Laser Grips. This holster is nice and snug. Holds the weapon firmly while allowing for a smooth draw. Easy reholstering. Its key snapped so extra sturdy on the snaps. Soft leather makes all day carry easy. Strongly reccomend !
not so happy(03.03.2011)
I purchased this product for a Kimber Crimson Trace Ultra Carry II. The weapon fits very snugly and looks like it would break-in very nicely. The problem I have with the holster is the snaps. When I tried it on I found it difficult to keep the snaps in place. Any movement downwards would make my belt ride up in the loops and pop the snaps open. All in all a very nice looking product. Just not happy with the snap idea. Im looking for a J hook design.
love this holster(12.07.2011)
I bought this holster for a springfield emp and it fits almost perfectly. It fits very snug and has great retention. It is about 1/2 in too long for the emp since it is designed for a 3.5 in officers model but it isnt a big deal and still makes for a great holster for the emp. This is my 2nd Summer Special 2 and i cant say enough about them. It is my favorite IWB holster. It is constructed with great quality, very comfortable for all day wear, and always fits the firearm like a glove.
If you want the best(27.07.2012)
Bought this for my Kimber, even though the barrell is only 3", it works fine, and I didn't have the 6 months wait. The Summer Special/SSII is the best IWB holster there is, bar none. I have carried Kimber Ultra, Pro and Custom in them for years and won't have anything else. Leather is more comfortable than kydex and more durable than nylon or cloth holsters.
Summer Special ll(03.02.2013)
I recently bought this holster from Brownell's and have worn it for afew days now I like it I am no stranger to Milt Sparks products they are near perfect. I own the Colt's Defender sub-compact 3" pistol the holster is alittle longer to accommodate the old Officers model 3 1/2 at first wasn't thrilled with that but the additional 1/2" or so seems to balance to ride of the pistol on my belt.
My Favorite Holster(19.02.2013)
I carry everyday these holsters are the best IWB holsters you can buy. Comfortable, perfect fit and finish and even better no 6 month wait if you order from Brownells! For the person who didn't think the snaps were working call Milt Sparks or look on thier web-site. Those snaps will not unsnap if you snap them properly. It's something you will get used too. I have been using Summer Special and Summer Special 2 holsters for 30+ years.
Kimber Ultra(13.04.2014)
This is a great holster, but if I had it to do over again I would suffer through the long wait and get one for a 3" barrel.
The best IWB holster I have ever used.(03.06.2014)
I am a retired Detective and have been carrying concealed handguns for 30 plus years. I have mostly used belt attached holsters after giving up on shoulder rigs and cross - draw rigs. I also gave up on kydex IWB holsters since I found them to be less than comfortable. I have been using my Milt Sparks Summer Special holster for my Colt Officer ACP for a few years now, and even with that heavy little hunk of steel, I can easily forget that I am wearing it. After 2 years plus of use, the holster still looks like new. The steel sight channel gate keeps the leather open and ready for re-holstering without having to endanger the fingers of your support hand. This is a top notch holster that you will love for years to come.
Great Concealed Carry Holster(02.08.2016)
Attention to details that make a difference. It's important to be comfortable, concealable and functional if ever needed and this fits the bill for me. The belt straps keep everything in place drawing my weapon and the formed opening allows an easier holstering. The stitching on mine is top notch and well done. With the hide of the holster extending the full length of my weapon, the gun is kept from any direct contact of my body unlike some others.
Texas summers can be tough and it doesn't take long to see the difference in holsters after sweating for a few days. Several IWB holsters seem to miss one or more of these points and with aggressive grips, 100 plus degree days, etc... this can be uncomfortable to say the least. This holster is meeting the challenge for me on all points. My only issue was with the two belt snaps, but once secured to a good belt do their job. Part of the problem was the width of my old belt and new well made snaps.
My officer's model 3.5 inch fits great and I plan on purchasing one for the 4.25 like my gunsmith wears.
If it means anything, my gunsmith has had his for several years of daily carry and still believes strongly in Milt Sparks holsters. They offer several configurations but Brownells saves a 6-8 week wait direct from the manufacturer and delivered this summer special quickly! Thank you Brownells
THIRTY YEARS n STILL a FAVORITE(13.01.2017)
Bought this holster more than thirty years ago,,, and this Milt Sparks has the distinction of being the first holster used for CCW after Florida's carry law passed in October 1987. Working as General Contractor all over the state of Florida, originally carried a Detonics Mark vi or MC2,, then Colt Officers EVEN a S&W model 60 in a pinch (trigger guard not a fit, but it provided an IWB holster when needed).
PRO: Comfortable, easy to adjust- taking on/off is a breeze (no pun intended) on this Summer Special by popping the snaps. On place holster where comfortable, adjust for belt loops if needed, snap leather retaining strap around your belt, snap, holster weapon. Removing is pop snaps and take weapon with holster off.
Rough out leather assists in staying in position. Light weight holster, where your limitation on that issue is your weapon (carry often, buy the lightweight allow version of 1911, NOT the pound heavier stainless.. end of day you will NOTICE the difference, Had no real issues wearing in car,, especially suv that had adjustable lumbar support.
Molded shape combined with sight channel. re-holster your weapon without looking is NOT a problem. Holster has kept it's molded fit,, sight channel is still there though a little frayed after THREE DECADES of service. Even with abuse of sticking a revolver more than once when 2" UL revolver was needed out of town (away from stockpile of holsters at home) vs continuing with 30 something oz. stainless 1911,,, trigger guard not all way in holster, but still have holster).. currently used with Kimber Eclipse 3" stainless which has a clip under grip when used with beltless pants, stuff 1911 in pants, clip kept gun from going all way in,, slight abuse of holster as clip goes inside when MS Summer Special is used. Cannot remember what was paid for this holster; however, no way anyone can say this reviewer didn't get his money's worth.

CON: if anything, it would be sitting, some newer holsters have a shield against your body which protects your hide from weapon digging into your back.. depends on gun, your seat and how sensitive you are to discomfort vs need to carry.
Perfect fit(16.09.2009)
I have used this product everyday since it came in the mail. Fits the gun like a glove, extremely comfortable for all day carry ...even while driving.
The best holster in my collection(27.12.2009)
Concealed carry is a constant maturation of the right firearm, the right carry position, the right weight and the right fit. Slowly I have progressed to larger and heavier pieces, as I understood how the holster can make or break the carry. While a commander is still a heavy piece compared to many, this holster securely holds and distributes the piece well. I balked at the price, but in the end found the price to be well worth the quality. Brownell's is a great way to get this holster becuase direct order from Milt is a long leadtime item due to limited production and high demand. My only complaint is the snaps are very snug, but the instructions explain why, the proper way to use the snaps, and even recommend threading the belt through the loops for the first while then opening the snaps for holster removal to make the snaps more flexible. I have carried a full day+ with this and it is about as comfortable as possible. You won't forget the piece is there, but it's pretty good for a 2+lb carry.
One Sweet Ride(23.07.2010)
Pure comfort all day, excellent draw and reholstering.. perfect cant.. Best IWB out there. have one for each gun, you won't regret this purchase...
Think Carefully Before Buying(21.11.2010)
If you have sensitive skin the reverse suede can be rough on any skin it contacts. Think if your dressing habits would put you in a situation where the holster would contact your skin.
comfortable secure carry(12.06.2011)
without a doubt very comfortable and the gun fits like a glove, I put off getting one of these for a long time because of the expense, I've got other cheaper ones but none more comfortable or secure.
Great one(20.07.2011)
I have been using a bianchi professional for 4 years for ccw and the belt clip just was not securing the holster. Needed to step up and realized what I needed in a IWB holster. After a long search this is the one I bought. Have been using it for 2 couple of weeks and it is does what I want for carrying a heavy 1911. The pad protects me from the edges, molded opening works great ( put your pistol in the bag the holster comes in to protect it and in 5 minutes of working with it the pull is smooth). The snaps are tricky at first but they will smooth out also. The pistol does not move around ( a big deal to me ). Comfortable with the cant angle for driving . Hides well. I could not be happier !
SS2 - experience summary after 6 weeks(01.08.2011)
After 6+ weeks of actively carrying my commander size 1911, this summarizes my opinion about this holster. In order of importance for me: - Concealment: I would say OK. Not what one would expect from "summer" holster. The loops for the belt are too large, and its the only thing that is making the shirt rise in my case. A clip would have been much better alternative. For more wear, its not a problem, but for light summer apparel, it bulges on the side due to the loops. -Build: Very solid construction. When you hold it in your hand the first time, you will know where the extra money went to..compared to cheaper alternatives out there. - Fit and comfort: Well, it's still a 2 pounds gun, so you'll definitely feel it. Importantly, the holster will stay in place. I think the rough surface actually helps the holster to stay in place better. As always, get a good, sturdy belt.
I like it.(20.11.2011)
Like a lot of folks who have been at it for a while, I own a drawer full of holsters, most of them high quality. I generally do not like IWB holsters, but this one is an exception and the best made, most comfortable I have ever tried. If you are looking for an IWB holster for a 1911, this one deserves your consideration.
Mag Research DE 1911 C(03.02.2013)
I purchased this holster for my off duty Mag Research DE 1911(C) Compact. Outstanding fit and rides nicely...Great Holster for concealment on my pistol.
Great Holster(05.11.2013)
With winter coming I was looking for an IWB holster for my winter CCW, a 1911. This holster fit the bill perfectly! Unlike other leather holsters I've tried, this one is sturdy on a gun belt and stays in place when sitting, standing or moving around. Given the quality construction, looks like I have a winter holster for years to come.
Really Good IWB holster(21.01.2014)
I use this holster for everyday carry. With a decent belt this holster keeps my handgun very secure and in a draw position that is ideal for me, that being a forward cant at the 3 o'clock position. I like the security it offers by having a flap to cover the thumb safety. This flap also makes it much more comfortable as it doesn't dig in as badly as many IWB holsters have a tendency to do. My only complaint is that the snap loops don't accommodate a very wide belt. 1.5" inch being about the widest you can go, but for everyday carry its unlikely you would be using a wider belt.
Research Paid Off(05.09.2015)
This holster fit my S&W 1911SC perfectly with no adjustment. Retention is outstanding. High Quality construction, perfect cant for 3:30 to 4:00 carry, very light weight and says put. Unlike other reviewers mine was not rough on the inside so no skin abrasion, nor did it require any fitting at all. Don't bother to open the snaps, feed your belt through. The criticism that the belt loops protrude a bit is valid but not significant. I plan to use some leather treatment at the fold of the loops to soften and flatten them out. I'm really glad I bought this holster. It's far and away the best one I own.
Really GREAT IWB holster LASTS FOREVER(06.01.2016)
Personally have had this holster for decades,, it's so old it only has ONE strap instead of the two currently used. Have other concealed carry holsters, including kydex paddle, and a similar design from a different manufacturer that uses plastic hooks which go under the belt to retain the holster when drawing your weapon. Always end up back to using this holster the most.
Best part is it is easy, insert the holster, make sure it's in comfortable position inside your waist, run the straps around your belt, snap, insert your weapon, and done. End of day, unsnapping and withdrawing holster and weapon takes less time than writing this.
Great feature is it's leather and has PROVEN by ten's of years of service which is great value. Easy to and safe to use. Nylon is nice and it doesn't cost much; however, how many nylon holster have a rigid mouth that allows one handed holstering of your weapon. Strap keeps the holster where you put it. The pressure of your belt and body sandwiching the weapon inside the holster- you do NOT need a retaining strap.
Personal preference here- you MUST be sure your weapon is retained and any tie down strap will really cost you time IF and when you ever need the weapon. You are two full seconds behind Bad Guys to start with,, if you need you weapon, you will REALLY need it and NOW.
Now that the holster has two straps, stability isn't an issue (never had problem see how holster retains weapon above).
Only disadvantage is you really MUST have a belt, anything other than using a pant's belt, you are fooling yourself on your weapon's security.

PS: this holster for 1911, also fits the KelTec PMR-30 pistol like it was made for it, barrel sticks out an inch but you'll really appreciate the Sight Channel as it come out smoothly. Has even fit a Taurus 85 titanium 5-shot revolver at times. One of my boys will likely end up with this one. End of Story.
Fits like a Glove!(06.10.2009)
No Holsters are comfortable! However my 1911 custom fits like a glove in this holster and is the most comfortable set-up I own. I actually own several of this particular model as well. Easy to draw and easy to re-holster. nothing bad to say! You can spend more money on less of a holster. Best thing is that I didn't have to wait 6 months to get it!
Milt Sparks(07.11.2009)
This IWB holster is unmatched for quality and craftmanship. The finest IWB I own.
The BEST inside the waist holster Period(21.01.2010)
After buying a footlocker full of holsters over the years the summer special is the best IWB holster period.I have wore this holster as long as 14 hours in a day with no real discomfort. The savings would be in the hundreds if I had known about this product. Two police officers gave me the info about this product and now I relized that many officers in the know use this holster.
the auto summer special holster(04.02.2010)
i own 27 holsters of all types .I CARRY A 1911 ED BROWN CUSTOM .no doubt dude you got to own this holster.IT IS NO DOUBT THE FINEST I HAVE EVER OWNED .YOU FORGET YOU EVEN HAVE IT ON.
The best I've tried(02.03.2010)
In over 20 years this is the best holster I've ever used for carrying a 1911 concealed. It holds the pistol extremely well but can draw from it easily. It's comfortable and extremely well made.
Simply the best(07.03.2010)
I've bought and tried/used a lot of holsters over the years and this is simply the best way to carry a 1911 concealed. It works in all ways.
Highly recommended(02.07.2010)
I have worn a summer special for over 10 years. it's so comfortable. I forget its there. will purchase again. when i upgrade to a different firearm.
Great Rig(30.08.2010)
This holster is probably the best one I have ever tried. It allows me to carry a Govt. Model all day with no problems. I highly recommend purchasing a quality CCW leather belt though. A regular belt will work but you'll get better support with a dedicated CCW belt. I highly recommend this. My Dad liked it so much I bought him one for his Officer's model.
Comfortable, Versatile, One of the Best!(17.01.2011)
Very comfortable and versatile. I carry my 5" 1911 with me all day long and it is superbly comfortable. Extremely quick and easy to put on and take off. Easy to adjust position while it is on, yet is always provides a consistent draw stroke.
I wear it all seasons, and in warm weather my "uniform" is cargo shorts, flip flops and a polo shirt. Extremely comfortable even with this full size combat pistol.
Metal re-inforced top and sewn in sight rail make for smooth, consistent one handed re-holstering. Rough side out helps keep it in position. Upper keeps leather between you and the controls (thumb safety, etc.).
Excellent design. If I ever finally wear it out, I will get another, no doubt.
Carrying a gvt 1911 is a dream with...(21.01.2011)
Carrying a full size 1911 is a dream with this holster. After only 30 minutes of carrying it was so natural I almost walked into the bank with it on. A short, and quick, change step insured I didn't make that mistake! It wears so naturally my pants didn't slouch, The outside is carefully reinforced so you can easily reinsert your pistol if you ever need to take it out. The grip snaps on the belt loops were also well made -- adding the finishing touch to the holsters overall usability.
Great product(25.01.2011)
Like other reviewer said, no IWB is going to be crazy comfortable, but as far as comfort does go, this holster has it! The fit was tight, and had to break in holster (using milt sparks spec on their website). Once broken it works like a charm. My only gripe, is the sight stitching really rubs on my slide thus making presentations harder and reholstering tight. I can see it leaving wear marks on the firearm sooner than i believe it should.
Best CCW Holster Ever Made(10.07.2011)
This is an awesome holster, I researched over and over on the various gun forums and found most recommendations pointed towards the Milt Sparks holsters. I carry my full size 1911 in this holster every day comfortably and easily concealed. By far the best holster that I have ever carried with.
Amazing(18.08.2011)
Was kinda on the fence about spending so much for a holster but sure glad I did.
As a big guy I was not sure if a IWB would be tolerable as far as carrying goes. I am really amazed thought this holster is extremely comfortable.
GET ONE!(23.08.2011)
I've been round and round with the new style hybrid kydex and leather holsters. I should have just got one of these first. FAR more comfortable than any other IWB holster I've ever worn.
Just get one. I wish I did earlier.
Great Holster(06.10.2011)
I use the holster for concealed carrying of my 1911s. It carries a heavy pistol well; keeps it secure deep within the holster and doesn't move around the belt. It tends to rub bear skin, so wear a tee-shirt under the holster. I even carry my commanders in it.
High Quality and Excellent Durability(18.10.2011)
I carry a steel frame 1911 nearly all the time in this holster and it is very comfortable. The holster holds its shape well, even when soaked with sweat. The quality of the leather is first-rate and the stitching is excellent. You may have to wrap your pistol in the platic bag the holster was packed in to stretch the leather a little. Initially, the fit was very tight but quickly broke in. I use a 3/4 inch belt, as my loops seem a little loose on a 1/2 inch belt. Slight holster wear on the black-oxide finish of my pistol, but nothing abnormal. I am very pleased with this product, including Brownell's pricing and availability. It's hard to get a quality holster at this price without going on a waiting list for months.
Best IWB Holster! 2 years and counting!(08.11.2011)
Some here have mentioned the tight initial fit and the tough to close snaps. When it is brand new it requires minor break in, but you will be happy the folks at Milt Sparks built it that way when you are still using it day in and day out years down the road.
I have carried a full frame 1911 most every day for the last two years. Strap it on quickly in the morning and take it off easily at night and leave it in the holster on the night stand, ready for the next morning.
1"-1.5" belt will give you the best stability and the holster will be easy on/easy off once the SS2's loops are broken in. I wear mine on a 1.5" riggers/instructors belt and find it to be a perfect fit. Make sure whatever belt you use is a strong, high quality belt, preferably purpose built.
I conceal this full size auto easily even when I am wearing cargo shorts and a polo in summer. The holster does not move around or shift on me, however it is easy to adjust it a couple inches this way or that while wearing it which makes it great for all day wear in and out of a car, sitting at the restaurant, walking your dog, sitting at your computer, etc., etc.
If IWB either untucked shirt or covered by jacket is the way you want to go, the SS2 is as good as it gets. You can not go wrong with a Milt Sparks product so buy with confidence! Brownell's makes it easy to get one, but even they run out of them so don't dawdle!
Great Holster(26.11.2011)
I am extremely happy with this holster. My 1911 draws easily, yet is held securely. I hardly notice it in my waistband. With other holsters, I have found my 1911 to be difficult to draw and/or reholster. It is also nice to get a Milt Sparks holster without having to wait months for it to be made!
I highly recommend this holster(30.11.2011)
I use this holster for duty and off duty purposes. Its comfortable and no breaking in is necessary. Before using this holster I was using Galco Royal Guard. This holster conceals well and seems lighter compared to Galco. Both greats holster. I recommend this holster.
The Perfect IWB?(17.12.2011)
Possibly the most functional and simple IWB on the market. Easy on and off, and Sparks quality. No shifting of the gun and it is actually comfortable. If you have a 1911 or 9mm or .40 S&W Glock skip the 6 month wait and order from Brownells.
Well built holster(13.01.2012)
It is a very well made holster and makes wearing a full sized 1911 comfortable. It has held up very well during hot weather and I expect it to last a long time. Only downside on mine is that my front sight shaves off leather from the sewn in guide ribs. Not a big deal but just wanted to put it out there.
Simply the best holster out there!(16.01.2012)
I just got it today and threw my Kimber Custom II in it. I can't believe how comfortable it is! I will soon buy more of these holsters for other pistols. It also conceals very well.
1911 AUTO SUMMER SPECIAL 2 HOLSTER(12.02.2012)
Of course the Milt Sparks name is legendary, but after wearing this holster for a few days I can see why. It did take a few days to break in but it already has proven to be very comfortable and easy to sit and drive with. For me the 3 oclock hold keeps a Govt model from printing and has the perfect forward cant. If I wear it at 4 oclock the butt sticks out a bit, but a commander frame would be perfect there (another reason to buy a commander).
Legendary Milt Sparks Quality(18.02.2012)
This is a no frills well made and well designed concealment holster of superior quality. I own two other Milt Sparks holsters for the 1911 and the Summer Special 2 lacks nothing in quality, purpose, or function.
Great Holster(04.03.2012)
I was lukewarm to this holster at first, as it just didn't seem comfy on my right rear hip. After trying varying placements on my belt I found the sweet spot, a little forward of my pants side seam line. Now it is my favorite holster for my 1911. The workmanship is outstanding, it is lightweight, and its concealability is excellent.
Milt Sparks summer special holster(06.03.2012)
Best holster for all day carry conceal. Extremely comfortable, have been using for years.
Purchase one...for each IWB carry fiream(03.09.2012)
I own a 3' sq box full of holsters. I have some cheap junk and good stuff. I've learned to spend the money to get a reliable holster. This fits my 1911 Kimber Raptor period. My belt is 2 layers thick and a pain to get the snaps to work, so I slide it off and on. It is rough outside, so I wear a t-shirt/tank underneath. Drove me nuts trying to get it to fit where my old one did, so I moved it around. I'm 5'7" @153lbs, grip sticks out the back of shirt...until I realized it's canted foreward at the angle to place the rear of the mag in the line of my armpit and trouser seam. With a baggy, busy shirt almost impossible to see, I've had friends ask me if I was carrying.
Comfortable full size 5" 1911 IWB(04.10.2012)
I've worn this for a couple days with a SA TRP loaded with a mag with 8 rounds of 230 ammo. This is the most comfortable IWB holster I've used and I like it. The cant is good, the belt straps are solid, the holster is molded to the specific firearm, and I like it...a lot. This IWB with a fill sized loaded 1911 wears more comfortably than my officer's model 1911 in a holster from another major manufacturer. Read all of the reviews, like I did, then purchase this holster.
Best Ive tried(18.01.2013)
My boss lent me his for 2 days and that's all it took... I dropped over 100 bucks with no hesitation... I can run, climb, sit with no problem packin a full frame 1911... Im 6'2" an about 190lb an wear a 32 waist it sits at 4 o'clock with a good forward cant on it.. If you need a good IWB holster just buy this ine and save your self from waisting money on subpar products
Preferred By Instructors(12.09.2014)
This holster was worn by every professional firearms instructor I ever had. I wear a 5" model for my 1911 government models daily (and they even work with Commander length models as well). Unbelievable hand construction still retains my 1911's even when upside down. I have an entire drawer full of holsters and this one is my favorite in terms of concealment and comfort even on very hot days when just wearing a T-Shirt over it.
Over priced(03.03.2015)
Took a dow rod, hammer and a 9 year old to get weapon out when inserted the first time. Did not make that mistake twice. Took three soakings with weapon wrapped in plastic bag to get set to my Springfield 5". Front sight has groove cut into leather between slide strips. Slide alignment strips already leaving wear marks serious problem if you have a blued gun. Hope to take it to the range with me after two weeks of prep. Seems to hang well but need to get loaded up and see how it releases under fire.
None better!(03.07.2015)
I have been carrying a weapon IWB for almost 25 years. I have tried holsters from other manufacturers but always go back to the Summer Special 2. This holster will replace a well worn SS2. I consider it the best concealment holster on the market!
Good Concealment Holster(05.11.2009)
This is a great concealment holster which should be used with a high quality pistol belt while concealed. Good fit and materials. It holds the handgun close to the body and permits easy and quick access with some training and practice. They wear very well - I had one for a S&W 645 for over 20 years and it still gives good service. The retention is a simple clam shell friction fit which relies upon concealment to keep from evil hands. It holds for regular movement, but will not retain the weapon if someone knows it is there and goes for it. You are the weapon retention method with this holster.
Excellent holster(24.01.2010)
This holster is very comfortable to wear and conceal. It also holds a Glock 36 very well.
Finally The Perfect Holster!(19.01.2011)
I finally found the perfect holster for my Glock 26. It keeps the gun close to my body, and more concealable. It's very comfortable and the sweatguard is a great feature. The craftsmanship is top notch....it's perfect!
Good comfortable holster(01.02.2011)
I have carried these holsters for decades and they are my favorite strong side concealment holster. I do buy the straps of proper belt fitment and this does help keep the sidearm where it belongs.
My suggestion is that Milt Sparks offer a thumbbreak version for agencies which require one.
Also that Brownells offer black straps as an option such as on the SS2 that Milt Sparks offers directly.
Fits my Glock 26 like a glove(19.06.2011)
You wont find a better more comfortable fit for the money. I have had several others. I find the snaps most beneficial to operate when you just open them to remove the holster and firearm from your pants. To put the holster on, its easier for me to snap the loops closed, slide the belt through the loops with pants on to where you want to pack your piece, then just slide gun in and go...
Very nice for hot weather wear(29.08.2011)
Used this for a week long trip to Seattle and casual clothes - the holster is very nice and never shifted once during daily wear with shorts, long pants and hawaiian shirts. As others have noted the two snaps are a bit tough so yes is did snap them then thread my belt to the holster most of the times.
The last IWB holster you will ever buy!(05.05.2012)
I have two of these holsters for different model Glocks. Fit is fantastic. Can wear all day long with ease. I made the mistake of loaning it to someone to try out. Had to go to their house to get it back. Yes it is that good.
Best IWB yet(02.01.2013)
I have used several differnt styles of IWB holsters. After a recomedation i ordered this one. Since i carry a full size 1911 they sometimes can be hard to conceal. I used this for the first time and was in love with it. Im a big guy and we all know as big guys the ol Love handle acts as a cusion for the hammer. This holster cants to the front just enough to minimize that. It also has the extra peice that covers the safey and hammer from digging in your side. Since i was told this was the lower line Milt Sparks holster i was expectiong an OK holster. I love this thing. With a good belt it is solid, I have carried this for 16-20 hours some days in summer through winter. I have used it in IDPA as well. Though all of this it has sucked in alot of sweat and never lost its form, there for making it easy to one hand reholster and easy draws. I have used this for almost 2 years and it is great. For those who konw the value of a good holster you know that 100 bucks is a cheap price to pay for a good holster. This may be the lower line of Milt and i can only imagine how good the top of the line is. Until i need a better IWB which i just dont see happening this is the holster i have recomended to several. And the seveal who have bought it have loved it as well. Buy one for every pistol and you wont be dissapointed.
Best IWB holster ever owned(04.02.2015)
I purchased this holster following the recommendation of a friend of a friend. I carry a S&W Shield and have had difficulty finding a great IWB fit for that platform. I was told to try the Glock 26/27 holster and I could not be more pleased with the fit. I am still convinced the holster was built for the Shield. I wear this holster everyday since I recieved it (2 months now) and most of the time I have to do a physical hand check to verify it is there. It is very easy to unholster and the mouth does not flex at all so reholstering is a breeze. I am a big guy, 6 feet 4 inches and am north of 300 lbs so finding a comfortable holster that does not dig into my self-built pie holders was tough. I cannot rave enough about the wear of this holster. I will not own another brand, Milt has won a lifelong customer. I will be purchasing more for my other carry platforms. I would pass on a recommendation to Brownells that testing be done to see what other weapons will work even though these are specifically built for a Glock.
Custom quality w/o the wait(20.09.2009)
Great holster that you don't have to wait for. I didn't have to break this holster in at all. Conceals my pistol well, and is comfortable enough to wear all day, every day. Good retention but also very fast.
Excellent(06.01.2010)
This holster holds my G23 & G27, and therefore will carry comparable framed Glocks in other calibers. As with other IWB holsters, make sure you wear pants 2 inches larger than normal. The gun practically disappears behind your hip. I have used this holster from sub-zero winter with heavy parka to 90 degree summer with T-shirt. Does not change angle, is very fast, and is very easy on the finish of your weapon. A true working holster, I've used mine for several years--no complaints.
Great Holster, No Waiting(15.01.2010)
This holster requires minimal breakin: a little use with waxpaper and it's ready. Very comfortible and conceals as well as any other one. Best part - the manufacturer has a six month backlog, but Brownells has it in stock!
Lives up to the hype(08.08.2010)
I wish I could have traded my other 3 holsters for this one. I heard a lot of talk about Milt Sparks holsters and was a bit worried about laying down that much cash for a holster, but I have NO regrets. It works great and I can wear it all day long with no problems. The summer special also keeps the gun up high so you can get a full grip on draw. This seems hard to find with IWB holsters. And no plastic, so it will last for a lifetime! One problem was my extractor is a bit sharp and it started to eat at the nylon string used to sew the holster together. Called Milt Sparks and they told me how to fix the string (melt it back with lighter) and suggested rounding off the extractor (used sandpaper on a tabletop and dragged extractor edge on it. I did both and have no problems anymore.
Finally, an IWB worth wearing all day(30.08.2010)
My second Milt Sparks holster. Great quality and good price. I wear the rig all day with no complaints. The steel reinforced top is a very functional feature. I will be recommending the Summer Special 2 to all. Would like to see it furnished with interchangeable 1.5 and 1.75 inch loops.
Don't be cheap with the Holster!! Buy It(31.12.2010)
Used as summer carry in San Antonio. I bought this as I had a Milt Sparks for a 1911 previously so I was familiar with the craftsmanship. There were others that I considered that cost more but the wait for all was terrible. I got a high quality rig for a reasonable price with out the wait. Comfortable, little or no break in required, very well made with attention to detail. Wear shirt one size bigger than normal the print is negligible unless you bend forward. Not bad in the sitting position in the car you can feel pressure in kidney area but it is tolerable, you might have to shift it one way or the other to find your comfort zone.
Great Holster(22.03.2011)
This holster works great with my new Gen4 23. It is well built and holds it's shape, I also like that there is a groove all the way down so the sights don't snag. [...]Buy it, you won't regret it.
Very well made Holster(25.05.2011)
I use this holster as my off duty carry with a Glock 19. It is very hot and humid where I live and this holster works perfectly, a tee shirt covers it easily. It holds the Glock tight and secure and I don't have to worry about pulling up my pants everytime I get out of the car. Which anyone that has carried a handgun for a long time will tell you happens constantly. I really enjoy the skin guard, as it keeps my side and kidneys from getting banged up. Great holster from a skilled maker.
Finally....this is the one!(04.06.2011)
Well, after going through 5 other holsters (galco, comptac, bladetech, uncle mikes...lol..desantis)....I finally found the one. I wanted something simple - but was kind of unsure about this design being TOO simple that it would be uncomfortable - boy was I wrong. Fits perfect in my 4 oclock position. Draws great - holsters back in great - and most importantly, you barely notice you have a sidearm on yourself. Very, very pleased with this purchase. I like the heavy duty snaps! This thing is built nice.
One Heck of a Holster!(10.11.2011)
I ordered this holster for my Glock 23 and I'm very impressed with the quality and fit of this holster. It fit my gun perfect right out of the package. I'm very happy and the shipping was fast too.
Outstanding Holster(09.12.2011)
Oustanding quality and fit. I researched many quality name IWBs before purchasing this Milt Sparks holster. No breakin is necessary, and the draw is lightning fast. I also appreciate the fact that the Milt Sparks employees stamp their intials on the holster, showing pride in their craft. I highly recommend this holster.
Finally made the right choice!(21.03.2012)
This holster will be used for my EDC a Glock 19 gen4. I find that even with it sitting at 3 o clock or 4 o clock it is quite comfortable and does not stick out very far. Holds the grip tight against the body without being uncomfortable. I cannot think of any cons! its well built and should I need replacement snaps there an easy order direct from Milt Sparks! This is the second SS2 holster I have bought within a week one for my 1911 which I love and now for the Glock... I am done looking for the right holster, I found it!!!
Best concealed holster on the market(04.07.2012)
I bought several different holsters in the past and most were junk. This holster worked out of the box with no break in period. Comfortable, good weapon retention and easy to draw / reholster. I bought the model for the glock 19 but carry my glock 26 in the holster most of the time, both work great. The holster holds the weapon tight against your body in a comfortable position that is easy to adjust and stays in place. Buy one and forget the rest, you won't regret it.
GLOCK 19/23 SUMMER SPECIAL 2 HOLSTER(05.07.2012)
I have bought several different holsters at multiple cost levels and never found that right holster. I decided to try the Milt Sparks holster for my Glock 19 since others recommended it. The holster works great out of the box with no break in time. Reholstering is never an issue with the reinforced band. I wear it between the 4 and 5 position and never notice I have it on. It rides securely up against me and stays in place all day. This is by far the best holster I have ever bought. I works great for my glock 19 and 26 both. Don't waste your money on others, order this holster from Brownells and you won't be sorry.
Great Holster(13.03.2015)
Fits my Glock 23 Gen 4 perfectly. This Holster is extremely well made and carries and hides well. The craftsmanship, stitching, and one-way snaps are all top notch. Buy it! You'll be glad you did.
Best Holster On The Market(16.09.2017)
In 2000 I attended one of the finest shooting schools in the country and my nationally known firearms instructor was carrying his 1911 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special (that's quite a product endorsement in itself). I immediately purchased one from Brownells for my custom 1911 and it is without a doubt the finest holster I own. Extremely comfortable and concealable for EDC even with a full-frame 1911. I cannot think of a single thing I don't like. Extremely fine craftsmanship and each holster is hand made, one at a time, and wet molded to a model of the specific pistol. They are made with the smooth part of the leather on the inside which is very gentle on the finish of a blued pistol and the rough part of the leather on the outside that grips your pants and keeps the holster from shifting. And the mark of a high quality IWB holster is a metal reinforcing band sewn into the mouth of the holster for easy re-holstering. Without this feature the mouth of the holster collapses when you draw the pistol which makes re-holstering all but impossible. I teach the Missouri CCW course and highly recommend this holster to my students. When my two sons completed my CCW course I presented each of them with a 1911 and a Summer Special holster because I trust my life to this holster and I wouldn't allow my sons to carry anything else. Now I'm purchasing two more for my Glock G19's. My original Summer Special is now 17 years old and still holds my pistols rock solid. I can even turn the holster upside down and it retains the pistol without it slipping out. Forget other holsters and buy a Summer Special from Brownells. They are pricey but it's only your life hanging in the balance.
A glove for your handgun!(20.10.2009)
The Milt Sparks summer special 2 is a great year-around holster. Holds my handgun tight and close to my body.
I just had to comment on this holster(19.12.2012)
This holster was designed by the late, Bruce Nelson. And according to Clint Smith, he started carrying this holster design as early as 1978. And every review on this holster is a great one. This design has been around for at least 35 years and it is still going strong. I'm using a copy of it for my Walther PPS and it is the only one that I have found that makes carrying a gun, full-time, bearable.
